Comments (15)If you want to leave the wall color, then I would look for other places in the room to bring in different colors. Would you consider painting the bed a different color? I think it would be great in black, and then do black and white toile for the bedding, adding pink accents. I would get rid of the netting over the bed - it is pretty much lost against the walls anyway. Or, take a look at these sets from JCP: Modern: zebra stripe set More traditional: pepper pink set Also, have you considered re-arranging the space? I would try putting the bed on the plain wall where the dresser is now. Keep the nightstands you have, but put them closer to the bed where they belong. Add black ribbon (or maribou!) trim to the lamps. Then put the dresser on the wall between the windows. Angle the tall chest in the corner between the windows. Add another lamp on the dresser for that end of the room. Put the keyboard under the (Monet?) painting on the wall. You could keep the same window treatments, perhaps adding tiebacks if you wanted that look for a change, perhaps make them by braiding black and white patterned ribbon with plain black and plain pink ribbons. A fluffy white rug at the dresser end of the room, some art on the walls (posters or prints are fine, or frame some of her artwork). Or, if you prefer the idea of pink and green, consider painting the bed in green and check out some of the other choices at JCP. 3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoPerhaps blush or soft pink, wallpaper or mural behind bed and creamy white on the other walls. An entire pink bedroom can get old fast and add impact with accessories. Suggest simple bedding which will be easier to adapt to her changing tastes.
Let your daughter decide to incorporate her special interests and again will be easy to update. (My daughter was riding at that time and she wanted an equestrian feel.) It will give your daughter the opportunity to make it meaningful and special to her.

3 years agoOur girls really wanted a pink bedroom when we moved into our new home. I initially tried to allow them some input but they would've gone with something too bright for my taste. I chose Sherwin Williams Verbena. They love it, but it was still a little more color than I was expecting based on the paint swatch. The color shifts depending on lighting though.

3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoWall colour is the last thing you choose, after you choose the bedding. Do you have carpet or a rug already?
You can have a pink room without having pink walls. A non-pink neutral wall colour makes it much easier to change things up when it comes time to switch out the unicorn theme to a different one. And no worries about mis-matching purple-pink with orange-pink. My youngest granddaughter even has a blue painted room and it's plenty girly with all her stuff in it. If I were you I'd paint it pale gray and bring on the pink and purple accessories - low stress decision and it will look great.
Especially during lockdown, try looking at pictures on the internet of how the colour looks in various rooms. You'll be looking at rooms with various lights and windows so it will give you an idea of how the colour will change.
Remember that when looking at paint samples, you're looking at such a tiny area that it's hard to imagine a whole room of it. An average bedroom would have over 50,000 of those little square inch samples LOL. Even painting a swatch on the wall is influenced the the existing wall colour.
As far as getting children's input on their rooms, I recall being asked to choose my bedroom paint colour at age 12. I found it stressful because I didn't really know what to do. When it was painted I disliked it because it was way too intense, but I never said so because I knew the expense, and the trouble my Dad had taken to paint it. I wished I had just had someone tell me what would look good with my bedspread.
I would get a decal or big poster, instead of painting the wall.
