I am glad you liked it! :) Sorry for the late response, I've tried to think about alternative solution with more passage space. It's not so standard as previous two layouts, but it does give more space and maybe it give you an inspiration with your living room: I've choose the red stools to balance the red chair and to define and highlight central conversation area, but at the same time to keep view at fireplace unblocked (when they are not in use). I had to change color of one chair, since having the chair in the corner in the same red color kept kicking the space out of balance. I don't know if you like that trend of layered rugs, in the case you do, I think it could help in your case to break a bit long, rectangular shape of the room. On the short wall I though buffet with a mirror or art could provide a focal point for seatings placed by fireplace. In this setup I've put two rounded coffee tables instead long rectangular one to avoid highlighting the length of the room. @Kim, thank you :)

The picture of the room with the fireplace and painting over it above seems like a perfect room to me. You need art, some color, spatial harmony, beauty, light, symmetry, and this room has it. It bothers me that what you often you see instead are giant clocks, a gray and brown/beige interior, no genuine art and a TV above the fireplace. Rooms should fill you with happiness in addition to being functional. milas's room is very attractive, and I love the couch, but I hope there will be some colorful art on those tall walls, a colorful and larger carpet underfoot, and some hint of the owner's personality and loves. The picture of the larger space shows lots of windows with just blinds which would look so much more warm and welcoming with curtains. That would probably be a good place to start in addressing the decoration of the remainder of the rooms. A "farmhouse" look has never been colorless, quite the contrary. I think some very good suggestions have already been given, and having more seating seems like a very important part of the plan.

Sofa and TV - I'll have some rearranging to do! should I have a wrap around couch/ or the same sized couch with accent chairs? Fireplace - the fireplace and the built it storage on both sides of it will need updating eventually if I move the TV. the fireplace was made originally to hide tv cables and a sub-woofer (which won't be needed in the future) on one side and firewood on the other. Paint - I agree with repainting just wasn't sure where I should start with this room. Plus the paint from this wall extends above the sliding doors, top wall of the kitchen, then leads down to the basement, so we'll have a lot to repaint. Furniture - I agree, the furniture we have just feels too bulky for the space Dining table - we actually have a separate dining room which which just finished painting and I'll be redecorating soon. I can remove the table in the pictures - the previous owners had a table there so we just followed suit. We now have bar stools at the kitchen counter anyways and use that more often then the table. Should I entirely remove that light fixture in that area, or just replace it with something more simple?
