I think he's doing a good job. He certainly knows the game well and I also think it may be a little difficult for him because he cared for Alex so much. He isn't as charismatic but his personality differs from Alex

I think he's doing surprisingly well. I did not expect him to be so personable. There will never be another Alex.

I think he’s doing okay! By the 4th game now, I can see he is getting into the flow, is trying to establish a rhythm, which is important for the contestants to buzz in. His nature, I think, is to be a bit guarded, but if he can relax a bit more he will improve. His voice, though, is a bit reedy I think. All that said, he is really doing a good job! He’s familiar with the game and I think has spoken in public a lot, which helps, and hopefully he can develop a little “patter”. He’s more comfortable doing it than Vanna was with Wheel.

He reads the clues a little faster. I can’t throw stones at that as I’m a fast talker. His voice is not as deep. I remind myself that no matter the sadness, Alex is not coming back.

There’s a really good article in today’s USA Today. To quote the author Kelly Lawler, “[Ken] is a worthy substitute.” For me, the word substitute means a temporary replacement. Alex’s passing is not temporary so I would say Ken is worthy. The article has many good things to say about him. And he himself is quoted saying, “...because I know that, like the audience, I wish it was Alex walking out at the top of the show.”

Ken will be guest hosting for about the next 6 weeks. He’s taped 30 shows. Katie Couric will also be having a turn at the podium. I wonder who else will be guest hosting? I don’t want a host whose personality overshadows the game and contestants. Even those it’s only been a few days, if Ken ends up as the person to fill those big shoes I’ll be content.

On a tangent, I think the January 8 tribute and the respect that Ken has offered up have been well done.

Jeopardy is unwatchable for me without Alex.

I haven’t seen Mayim Bialyik since Blossom, and that was a very, very long time ago. I know she is very intelligent, so I look forward to seeing her turn at the podium. Aaron Rodgers surprised me, but I’d forgotten he did well on a celebrity Jeopardy. Katie Couric should be good, didnt she host another game? And with her tv journalism and hosting background, she should be able to adapt to timing on the show. But, she’s about 60 isn’t she? How long will she want to do a game show? Bill Whitaker, I’m not familiar with him.

Ken is fine, but doesn’t have that “tv voice”.

I agree that Ken is doing a fine job and will get better. But his voice is not easy on my ears.

I am grateful they havent changed the game. I have been afraid they will make it fluffy.

Charismatic??? Alex was never anywhere described as charismatic. Polite, cheery, professional, stiff, frightening but never charismatic. It would help the game's appeal if they got a Wayne Brady to liven the place up.

He is a little faster in his speech, but I think he'll settle in nicely. Alex was pretty laid back when talking. Although, watching some of Alex's earlier shows of Jeopardy, he was pretty fast talking, not unlike Ken is now.

He does talk too fast, and I find it stressful relative to Alex’s calming tone. 7:00, the day winding down, getting dinner started, I prefer calm. I was really hoping that the producers would tell him to slow down during the first commercial break but I guess that didn’t happen. All that said, he’s grown on me throughout the week and we can’t expect a clone of Alex.

I will join in with those saying he is doing a surprisingly good job at filling the unfillable shoes.

I think he's doing a fine job. Yes, more personable than I'd expected, and he really enjoys it when the guests are funny.

I agree that he reads the clues more quickly than Alex, and at first I almost expected they'd have time left over at the end of the show. But of course that didn't happen.

I never cared for him, but I think he is doing a good job. It is just like Drew Carey when he took over for Bob Barker on the Price Is Right. Nobody liked him either. All i said it wouldn't matter who they got it would never be the same as it was with Bob. We just have to give them a chance and get used to it.

I think Ken is doing well. It is hard to get used to his voice and the speed of his reading the answers, but in time I think he will settle down, and I will become accustomed to his delivery and voice. I am looking forward to the other choices to guest host. I am sure that no one can fill Alex's shoes, but try outs and time will get us all comfortable with a new host and the show will go on.

Alisande, I was expecting time left over to the show that first night also.

Bengardening, I made that same comparison of Bob Barker and Drew Carey also. I didn't think Drew could pull it off, but he has done well and I like him in Bob's place just fine.

I am surprised by how well Ken is doing. He does not have an entertainment background. He keeps getting better and better, more relaxed as he goes along. Id rather have him as a host than some overly cheerful, glad handing emcee type. I think other old game shows have been ruined by becoming more show biz than game show.

It will be interesting to see how it progresses. I am enjoying the young woman who is the current champ.

I think Ken has a good mastery of the hosting position, which I can imagine is much more difficult than it looks. He needs to slow the pace, even if it results in not finishing the board. Much of the fun is trying to guess the answer, but he is moving the questions and answers along so quickly, the slower-witted of us can't join in the guessing.

Agree clips from the time show that Trebek had a barking, rapid fire delivery in the early days that set quite a different tone from what developed later. Also the game boards were more rinky dink, adding to the more carnival like atmosphere. So how changed the show may seem now without him probably won't turn out to be particularly significant later.

I don’t know why, but I didn’t watch Big Bang Theory (which, btw, was in Jeopardy today!). I knew about her degree, I wonder how she will be at hosting?

I read, some time back, that a sports broadcast background could be helpful because of the timing experience. But maybe it just comes down to experience and ability. Alex was already in broadcasting and hosting. Jeopardy is a great game in search of a host!
