Cabinet color: BM Mayonnaise and/or BM Linen White
Comments (10)If you are down to just two colors it would be a good idea to buy a sample (even if that means a quart) and paint a good size area of each in the space you plan to use it. I find it helpful when I paint an edge to touch. Check on the colors throughout the course of several days, hopefully with differing amounts of sun. Don't forget to see how they look at night too. I was between two different BM whites and this process made it clear that one read too yellow in my space for my taste. Who knows, maybe this is why so many shades of white are available? Either that or they just have a lot of great names they want to use! I find subtle differences hard to read well on a computer screen. Comments (14)My 2 cents. I'd skip Navajo white. I think every track home in San Diego (and probably beyond) was painted Navajo white in the 1980's. Every painted surface including doors and ceilings, including mine. I never liked it, but lived with it for years because it was just too much trouble and expense to repaint everything. Maybe that's why it's a big seller. Been kicking myself since because our paint match wood shutters also need to be refinished to match the white trim and doors we have now. To me the Navajo white has a greenish undertone and looks kind of dirty compared to other colors. Nicotine White is what it's disparaging called here. Can't tell you what to have only what you shouldn't and that would be 1980's track home Navajo White! I'm sure linen and a million other colors are better. When we repainted we went with Botony Beige fron Frazee. On the paint chip it looked slightely darker in tone, but on the walls it's not and it has a more neutral to warm base than the Navajo. Comments (10)Update: I tried 2 samples. I settled on Havana Tan and Carlisle Cream and Bare Essence. The latter is Color Stories and could not be made at the hardware store so I skipped it. Havana Tan made the short list as my "warm" one to try because it had the LRV that I was looking for. However, it was AWFUL. Way too peach. Ugh. Carlisle Cream -- the "safe" choice -- was also disappointing. A sample looked ok in one part of the room with no cabinets or counter. But up against the cabinets and backsplash area, the pink came through. So I hit the books again and went back to that other elmira-white/muslin discussion. I studied those numbers in encycolorpedia and I think Elmira White could be a contender. It is lighter than I originally wanted but I decided I will repaint and brighten up the woodwork for contrast if necessary. The trim is currently China White which turns out is kinda dark. If I use something like WHite Dove or Simply White, these lighter beiges will look better. I didn't want to paint trim, but it is an option. And a lighter beige will help brighten up the room. The other possible ones are Temporal Spirit or Natural Linen. They seem really clean with least red. White Sand keeps popping up too. What's really interesting is now that I see how warm Carlisle cream really is, I can put a contender color chip next to it and quickly get a good sense if it is warmer or cooler....See MoreBM White Down with ?? Comments (6)cleliadkeen, just seeing your message now. I ended up ordering a new Wesley Allen Headboard in Matt White that will be here in February. Then I will see if BM White Down looks nice with it or BM Feather Down. I made that mistake once and painted my home office BM Linen White with Extra White Trim and it was so yellow. I have since repainted my home office BM Bone White and I love it in my home office, family room, kitchen, laundry room, one spare bedroom and upstairs hallways. I was not sure of it in my master bedroom as I have no overhead light. I painted the other spare bedroom BM Philadelphia Cream and it is too yellow. But since I am hardly in that bedroom, I never bothered to repaint it as I was happy it was a mistake only in one room. But my master bedroom I want to be a peaceful room. I do have the Samplize in the BM White Down if you want me to put it next to the SW Extra White and next to BM Super White to see how it looked. To me it looked so nice....See MoreTerri Lewis
