update: update: birthday extravaganza feb swap #3
Comments (85)I really need birthday lists for March for those that can start posting them! I want to have the page done no later than March 1st, but hopefully before for those that have early March birthdays! Please, post your lists as soon as you can! J.J., sorry for your loss... I agree with Dan and everyone... They have a special place in heaven... Kim, I'm really sorry about the computer issues. I hope you get it all ironed out soon so you can have your computer back and protected. J.J. (shropshire_lad) - Thanks so much for the marigolds and Joseph's Coat Amaranthus tricolor! I just adore the card that you sent, too! I thought the inside words had been printed from a program at first because they looked SO good! Annette (playintheyard) - Thanks so much for sharing with me the Marglobe Tomato, Israeli Melon, Collective Farm Woman Melon, and Tortarelo Melon! I giggled reading your note to me. I'll reply to you personally in a minute. :-) Sarah Kate & Nikki (nikkineel) - Awwww! I love the homemade card! I especially like the green cake as that is my favorite color! Thanks so much for the Agastache anisata, Dwarf Cherry Rose Nasturtium, Dragon Tongue Beans, and White Hyacinth Bean Vine! I can't tell you all enough how much this birthday month means to me and how special you all have made me feel! Again, WOW!!! Comments (150)Ok, they are gone. Now I am down to 2. Two little ones to keep me company. Until September 6th, then I will lose Dan to Pre-K/preschool. Sigh. I am fine. I just have to remember how much I used to get done when they weren't here, asking for meals, snacks and juice all the time! Back to the days of a schedule. Maybe that is what I am sad about. The dreaded SCHEDULE! EEk! Just kidding. I am really not upset. I just hate summer to end, carefree summer days. Love them with all my heart! When there is frost again and no flowers I will really be sad! Carpe Diem! Right Girls? Becki, I can totally relate to trying to control a crowd of kids when trying to shop for clothing in the store. I am going to tell you the cure all story that has worked for me. My mother totally cured me of bad public behavior. She used this method on me exactly 1 time in my life. In church. I have not had to use it yet, but the children all know about it, how bad it is, and how it has left a very serious impression on me since I was 5 years old. I recommend only telling your children about it as a threat. Look away if you do not have a strong stomach for torture and psychological manipulation of small people. Here it comes: My mother was not too happy with my squirming in church one Sunday morning, I was talking, fooling around with my brother, I believe we were both knuckle punching each other. I nailed him hard enough for him to yelp. My Mom had reached her limit! She lightly looped her hand under my upper arm, I thought she was going to move me away from my brother. Then shock appeared in my eyes, then pain registered in my brain, next the tears started welling up in my eyes. My mother leaned down to my ear and whispered "If you cry or make any noise, I will do it AGAIN." While she had looped her arm through mine she pinched the soft underside of my little upper arm with her long nails and twisted the skin over 180 degrees. I sucked it up as hard as I could, little gulps, heaving chest and silent sniffs. I sat perfectly still and never goofed off in church again, (unless I was seated next to Dad, then I quietly goofed off with him, careful not to be caught by mom). I absolutely never ever embarassed her in public again, gone were the days of hiding in clothes racks, and tormenting my brother anywhere near her! Oh yeah, and I made sure that I always made Tom sit next to mom in church after that....See MoreLittle Boy's Bedroom Fabric Choices -- Advice Please
Comments (7)Thank you for your nice words and congratulations on your new home! So exciting. The fabrics are all from Sanderson Fabrics in the UK. (specifically here, here and here) Well, the laddies' bedrooms' project has "started" in that I've interviewed three seamstresses and received yardage requirements from one of them. It may send me to the poorhouse .... Sorry -- no pictures, yet! Maybe in early-mid Spring. ??? Maybe. Hopefully before the boys go off to uni! No, I'm really motivated but finding seamstresses took me some time and then there were the holidays ... go figure. Probably by the end of this week I'll have the fabrics ordered and then we'll go from there. I decided to do basically what les917 suggested for my 3.5 year-old son's room, and for my 18 month-old, he'll have a striped bedskirt, the red car as one side of the duvet, the flags as the other side of the duvet and also to upholster this chair, and the balls fabric for a neckroll. (I'll also have decorative pillows for Li'l Bit as well as a balls fabric neckroll for my older son.) I think it'll be great! And I could not have gotten this far without everyone's help, that is for sure. I look forward to seeing what you do for your son's room!...See Morebear update..lol a little long
Comments (4)A friend of mine just stoped by a little bit ago. She had a bear sitting in the road in front of her today! I would LOVE to see one. That's the second one she has seen since she moved to this area - not even a year ago....See Moreclkell
