Family, my cat, painting and reading.

The outdoors. Trees, snow, sky, sun, birds, stars, bees, flowers.....

The Appalachian trail daily hikes, Netflix, my pets, and books.

My husband. Jogging(I feel achy without it) Adventure travel, even if I'm just down the street on a trail near home(hate being bored).

Tea. It appears I am addicted to English Breakfast.

My God, my family, reading, doing something creative (cooking, baking, crocheting, painting), good food.

Rusty

God.

Of course my family. Also reading, sunshine, and maybe sweets. LOL

Coffee, plants, sunshine, pets, and about half of my extended family.

coffee, crossword puzzles, gardening

Horses, waterlilies, antique roses, feeding the birds, my cats, dogs, fish..... actually I am not good at giving up anything that I like. And I will keep doing the things I love as long as I am able. I would be very miserable without them, and tho sometimes I wish I didn't have to go out and take care of them, I always go. And when I am around them, I am happy. They are my life.

Chocolate

Breathing

DH and family. Pets. Walking. Thinking. Food and yes breathing.

Laughter. And chocolate.

Family, sewing and reading.

God, my cats, my crafting and chocolate.

Coffee. Hopefully my cats but if I can no longer obtain food they may have to fend for themselves. Chocolate is one of the major food groups but it also may be going the way of the Dodo .

"Hopefully my cats but if I can no longer obtain food they may have to fend for themselves."

I'm not sure what you're suggesting but just in case, if you're unable to properly care for your pets, please take them to an animal shelter. Domestic pets cannot "fend for themselves".

At one time I’d have said my cats, but the current cats seem to have decided they belong one to my son and the other to my husband. So I’ll stick with my morning coffee and cryptic crossword, Jeopardy! In the afternoon no matter the host, texting with friends and family no matter the hour, and my evening Chardonnay. And GardenWeb.

Elmer if I can no longer care for my cats I will take them to my vet and have them put down if the vet is still operating. I have read about and known too many people from other countries where things have happened to simply place my furkids in a shelter. You of all people should know about what has happened in other countries. No way would I allow them to starve to death at a shelter.

How are practices in other countries relevant to what you do? A rhetorical question, I can't see that it matters at all. Zero

If what I've read is true, animal placements are up. You can be sure a responsible shelter will do its best.

It was you who said you might let them "fend for themselves", which is a cold and heartless comment. If that was inaccurate, you probably shouldn't have said it.

That's OK believe the myths about the animal shelters all you want. Since except the most recent stray all are over ten with the oldest over twenty NO Shelter would try to place them in this area. They might be lucky and live a few more days if they fend for themselves.

Oh my.

A new group has taken over the municipal shelter as of the first of the year. Previously the unwanted animals were placed in a vacuum chamber and the air was sucked out. This was stopped for a while and injections were done before they were placed in the chamber. Each area handles the killing differently but any animal over a certain age are allowed to become infected and were given no treatment in the only other area wide shelter. Each small area either contracts with a larger one or only handles animals from their immediate area. When a stray mother cat had her kittens I tried to find one that would take them. Since kittens are easier to place and she was beautiful I could only hope that they would all be adopted. She savaged my oldest and could not stay.

Much better to let them fend for themselves.

I will always want horses in my life even if I am no longer able to ride. Same with dogs. I find it hard to answer what can't you give up. As we travel this journey called life we are not always in charge of what we can give up or not. So it's more of what we don't want to give up as opposed to can't. When things are taken from us we have to make the hard choices to adapt to change or not. What I don't want to give up are family, horses, dogs, the beach, driving, Dr. Pepper, reading, my ability to keep moving, and most of all my mind. But we'll see how it goes.

As we travel this journey called life we are not always in charge of what we can give up or not.

I was thinking the same thing. A lot of how we live and what we have depends on our own current situation but also the economic/health situations of others that may affect us..

Sudoku and the air I breathe.

Beer, food, water. In that order.

My SO, my doggies, my garden, my internet or tv, my kindle fire, my pink obsession, chocolate, cheese and Christmas decorations.

Doing something creative. I went from designing and making clothes to designing furniture, and now that I am retired, I have gone back to designing and making clothes and other things. Cooking and creating new recipes also satisfies my creative urge.

I think I would have a hard time giving up talking to people - I guess I'm not good at being silent.

Lately? Ice cream.

My heated 3-zone mattress pad -- and my CPAP machine.

I can't give up my CPAP machine either - or my eyeglasses. I panic at the thought of the loss of electricity and should really invest in a back-up battery for my CPAP machine.
