Sports Bras for over 50 and Post Menopausal
Comments (6)I am 53 and have not been able to find a sports bra in recent years that feels right to me. Even when I know I've got the right size, I feel more like a post-nursing mother who is binding her breasts. Gah! Gives me cleavage all the way to my neck and I feel like I'm going to choke on my breasts. Now that I'm "old", I have decided to go for comfort. Hence, the "Comfort bra". I ordered several different styles from Dream Products and have been very happy with them. Yes, they offer less support than the underwire bras I wore so long ago, but you know what? They feel good! Here is a link that might be useful: Comfort Bra...See MoreBest Bra you ever had.
Comments (57)Y'all, much of what has been said here is why one needs a properly fitted bra! Yes, the band should be tight, but not tight enough to be restricting. Even though you should fit the bra to the last hook, you should be able to hook the middle hook without straining. If you can't, you either need a bigger size to start with, or the bra doesn't have sufficient give. There shouldn't be any strain on your shoulders. Lift with your knees! :) That is, without the shoulder straps on, all the lifting should still be done. The shoulder straps just keep things in place and do that final little shaping. You should not be stabbed by any part of the bra. You should not feel a sigh a relief when you remove it, and should be more comfortable wearing a bra than swinging free. A really well made and fitted bra will do that for you. Otherwise, why bother?....See MoreUgly bra.........
Comments (23)I swear by Wacoal bras!! Not only are they exceedingly comfortable, but they look pretty good as well :-) I am pretty well endowed and not all bra manufacturers are able to properly accommodate big breasted women for both support, comfort and style. And thank you but I need no extra padding and most smooth or t-shirt bra styles insist on padding the cups - Wacoal does not! They are not cheap but I do not mind spending on quality undergarments that last and fit properly. These are worth every penny!! ETA: I will ditch the bra and any shoes as soon as I walk into the house :-) The older I get the more comfort plays a major role in my life and going bra-less, no matter how comfortable the thing may be when out in public, cannot compare to letting the girls loose at home!! Good thing I live alone :-)...See MoreWhat's with all the bras without hooks?
Comments (59)I have a smaller rib cage and so I did have trouble with the soma underwires as they were too wide and poked me under the arm....I've tried both Vanity Fair and Bali and have not had issues with them in that regard. Soma told me they were getting narrower ones in but I never went back to find out. Wacoal don't work for me as all their straps are too stretchy so rather than support, I bounce like mad just walking. It's most uncomfortable for me. Of course we are all different shapes and sizes and we have different goals in why or why not wear a bra. I'm only sharing what works for me and my 34DDDs. My GF loves the pull on bralettes, but she's like an A cup and doesn't need much support...and that's still after nursing 3 babies way back. So we each go our own way....See MoreAnnie Deighnaugh
