Yes Ugly, I would not do those front hooks at all. I've been wearing the Hanes Cozy Bras for a while now. It works for me. Cozy Bra They seem to have gone up in price too.

I got it in beige(ecru) and in pink, the pink is a very nice color. Am thinking about the red.

I do not like the uni-boob look and why on earth if you wear a big cup do manufactures want you to have an even bigger look by adding padding. I find hooked stretch bras easier for me to put on than the pull over the head ones. I have one hook up the front but the fit is just odd. I agree that once you reach an age or size that comfort is more important than looks ugly is common.

In proportion to wages those bras are cheap compared to the 1950/1960s. I was making the grand total of $78 before taxes and the average bra started in the upper $20s. Most were in the mid $30s which is why it was so nice when deconstructed bras started bein sold. What I call deconstructed bras were just fabric with fabric covered elastic shoulders. Although I will never purchase from them there are two shops here used to either start from scratch or use already made pieces to make one for you. I wrote used to as one has gone into ready made stuff the other is gone. The ready made one which I will not post a link is called Birdiespanties and they have a bra of the month club at $100 a month. Website photos would offend some on here.

Lucille, not ugly and I'll bet that your clothes look great when you're wearing one. Comfort is extremely important.

What?? My girlfriends and I had Carnival bras in every color, and I'm certain they didn't cost anywhere near that.

Waaaaay back then......Ross Dress For Less sold Bali bras....about $2.75 -$5. There's a Nike outlet shop near me. A sports bra runs $15. I do like the one you purchased Lucille! I just don't have the ....aaah.....rack to put in it. :0)

I used to buy the Warner's in a box but they've become uncomfortable for me.

Last summer I discovered "Blissful Benefits" by Warners in Walmart, hanging on the racks. $18. Very very comfortable. The style I have don't have individual cups, I hadn't seen them, but I see they're online. I won't pay $30 or more which is what bras are, so I look for sale prices or just stick to this brand.

I am definitely not a fashionista that spends tons of $$ on the latest fashions. But I do not mind spending $$ on myself, for basics like bras and shoes, that make me comfortable.

As people have mentioned they can find perfectly adequate bras for less money, and this is the most I've ever spent on bras, but these are the most comfy bras I have ever had. And as I get older and all those unfair little aches and pains that come with aging start to pop up, finding some comforts to cling to seems worthwhile. (Even if they are ugly). Oh yeah don't even get me started on how some of my nice comfy shoes, some of them are dorky and ugly too.

Lucille, no way was I suggesting you shouldn't spend that much. It's great that you got something so comfortable, and equally great that you shared a good product with us. I was just sincerely surprised to see the price. The last few times I bought a new bra, it was at TJ Maxx.

I swear by Wacoal bras!! Not only are they exceedingly comfortable, but they look pretty good as well :-) I am pretty well endowed and not all bra manufacturers are able to properly accommodate big breasted women for both support, comfort and style. And thank you but I need no extra padding and most smooth or t-shirt bra styles insist on padding the cups - Wacoal does not!

They are not cheap but I do not mind spending on quality undergarments that last and fit properly. These are worth every penny!!

ETA: I will ditch the bra and any shoes as soon as I walk into the house :-) The older I get the more comfort plays a major role in my life and going bra-less, no matter how comfortable the thing may be when out in public, cannot compare to letting the girls loose at home!! Good thing I live alone :-)

I purchased three of these bras from QVC approximately two years ago. I expected to wear them occasionally such as days when I was mainly staying home or maybe just for exercising. I literally have not worn anything else since the day they arrived! So very comfortable and I like the fact that they're reversible.

gardengal, I do SO agree with you about Wacoal bras! And your ETA paragraph, also -- comfort rules!! Only problem with going bra-less is the gravity factor, which I ignore and I have learned how to walk around the house without tripping over them whilst in perfect comfort. ahhhh. =)

I hear you on the padding! When you take those out of the possibilities at the store, there are few left to consider. I also find that those that are more supportive cut me under the arm, which I think is just my problem as I was fitted by a knowledgeable sales clerk. I use a playtex as I find it most comfortable, though it probably gives me a saggy look. At this advanced age, comfort wins!
