Comments (134)Hi Ya'll, It's here! The swap is tommorrow! Woopee! I'll bet everyone will have more fun than a centipede at a foot tickling party! LLLOL! jclepine: I had asked for some pineapple mint & a poppy. If you can't get the poppy may I have some cherry bells? If you have enough I'll share some with a friend of mine. I'll be happy with any plants I can get. b2alicia: thanks. The more I keep up with these swaps the better I'll learn the "lingo" LOL. I have a small strawberry pot. It only has 2-3 side holes. I'll bring it with me so U can see it. Would anyone like some of those grayish egg cartons(the 18 count type)that come from walmart? Comments (5)Use some now without removing the bulblets. I am thinking that Steve's heat issue is his rocky ground and location. Plus he might be thinking they are more like green onions and they are more like mature globe, no matter when you harvest. ANY part that grows above the ground is subject to regrowth. So be very careful what you through in the compost pile or along the garage. You will have walking onions in places you did not intend. For pickled cocktail onions I used the following recipe. It is for refrigerator style, but there are recipes on the net for water bath style. Use only the bulblets, they are more tender and small The globe parts are the onions I use to make my dill pickles. We make them by the gallon and everything is homegrown except salt and vinegar. Dill Pickles 6 c. water 2 c. vinegar 1/2 c. canning salt hand full walking onions, large ones split in half large bunch of fresh dill 2-4 garlic cloves, pealed Bring water, vinegar, salt to a boil. Layer washed cucumbers, onions, garlic and dill in 1 gallon jar. Pour hot solution into jar, completely covering cucumbers. Place lid on jar and let set on counter for 3-4 hours. Refrigerate until use, ready to eat in 2-4 days. Terry has a small frig in his tack room and 4 jars fit. We still have one jar left from last year and the pickles are still really pretty good. Comments (25)growing up we always had a bbq, the whole family together. some members would go to cemetery, but as soon as any decorations were put on graves here they would be gone the next day, so we stopped. i never went anyway, honestly i think its morbid but thats just my opinion...we always looked through albums. i know it sounds awful cold but i wont go to funerals at all. i do however think its in very poor taste when families do visit loved ones and plant something that your loved ones loved like say mums, something non invasive, only to go the next day and see a huge pile of everyones plants in a huge pile...boy that makes me madder than a wet hen!!!!...See MoreSomething to do until Spring
Comments (18)Sherry, not giving up on my low-flo waterfall. I do have another 'mini' winter project brewing (pretty far along), but I will wait until it is finished rather than expose my helter-skelter project list / activity to any further scrutiny. :-> Linda and bungalow I did see the rock mosaics. There are butterfly and bumblebee mosaics that fascinated me on that site, and I do have a box of Mexican beach stones left over from my 350 year old; brand new bench project. I lined up some rocks into a long snake for my, my grandson's, neighbors', visitors' and whoever I can drag back there's amusement....now wouldn't a mosaic of a snake head on my 25 foot slinking stone snake be fantastic !!! (3 inches of snow, 1" predicted; then rain and now changing back to snow far earlier than predicted...so no photos) OK, it only took me a paragraph to break my resolution to not add or disclose projects I have in my head, or in progress. No, the snake is not the project I alluded to in the first paragraph. That project will be a secret until Spring. My lips are sealed on that one. Waterboarding won't drag that out of me. ...Hypertufa pots is something else that interested me.....Hmmmmm. Jon...See Moreplllog
