Is it ok to have furniture and flooring similar tone and finish?

We recently bought an oak console in our living room that was a much darker finish then what was shown in photos however, it is a lovely piece . Thus, I want my husband to sand and re stain it lighter (solid oak) to the finish of what we have in our dining room and living room

as shown in the first photo .

However, I’m now questioning if it visually looks ok to have similar toned floors and furniture or if it looks better to contrast . Photo 2 displays the new console and how it contrasts with the floors.

I personally feel if we were to do a darker dining room table, coffee table end table and buffet to match the tone of the new console, the space might feel too heavy but, I could be wrong. Curious as to what other thoughts and suggestions are, thanks much!
