GE Cafe induction or Ilve induction range
Comments (33)Just an FYI for those buying induction for the first time: you may need new cookware. I’ve only ever had induction once and everything took FOREVER to cook/boil when we first started using it. It was so frustrating I did a bunch of research and learned that induction only works well if your cookware has a perfectly flat bottom so the full pan bottom is in contact with the burner. Went to bed bath and beyond and started taking pans out of all the boxes and placing them on the floor to see if they fully made contact. It was surprising how few did! Finally bought the flattest bottomed pans I could find. Problem solved after that. Note this was in 2009-2010 so maybe newer models have resolved this issue. But I have no interested in trying again - gas for me all the way. Hated cleaning it (thought it would so easy but mine wasn’t) and even though I figured out the pan issue I always felt it wasn’t as good as gas....See More30" induction range options
Comments (78)@ Ed Wiltse Sorry for the delay in responding to you but I wanted to have a few minutes to give you a thoughtful and thorough answer. First time my response did not post but here is the redo. Oven light issues are resolved but before I got that part I used the self clean and the door locked at the end of the cycle. We could not open the door and the appliance store couldn't either which left us waiting for 2 parts. That seemed unreasonable so the store asked Blomberg to replace the range and they did! Everything arrived working as it should and I have been happily cooking and baking ever since. No problems with the new unit so I likely got a lemon the first time around. While I was not happy the initial unit had problems, it did make me happy that Blomberg chose to replace the unit. My appliance store was amazing in dealing with this too. Still very much like the placement of the induction burners on top and they work well. The oven is noisy but does a good job in bake and convection bake which I use all the time. I cook most evenings and bake frequently. Still like the size of oven. Holds a lot of food which is great when cooking for a crowd. I do like the backsplash which was a great solution to having space to fill as we had the 4" granite backsplash. If I had the choice of any oven made would I chose this again? Not sure, but it's working and I'm able produce everything I want to make. Would love a timer, but in the grand scheme of things not a deal breaker. Working well and does a good job cooking and baking. Happy to answer any specific questions you might have....See MoreLG Studio 30" Induction range vs. Bosch Benchmark 30" range
Comments (30)@peanutmiracle I purchased a sheet of silicone and used various-size cans and a small bowl to make different-sized circular pads, which I then cut out. I place three or four pads down to support the edges of a pot, or I will use a single bigger pad for my tea kettle (because the single pad can be hidden underneath the kettle and left out on the cooktop full-time. Otherwise, the pads are placed on the stovetop only when I am using a hob. There is a theory that the pads could serve to lengthen the lifetime of a hob's performance, because the hot pot is not making direct contact with the stovetop, keeping the stovetop cooler. I mostly use the Hunts tomato sauce size. I use the biggest one for my tea kettle. Another advantage to using the pads is it helps you eyeball where to place the pot once the pads are in place. Comments (24)Here is a video. I just realized the sound reminds of being on an airplane. It doesn’t always run, and when it does, it’s not always for the entire time the oven is on. It must be triggered on to release steam. It usually shuts off less than 5min after the oven is turned off. I just shut the oven off and the fan shut down two minutes later. Not sure how loud it will sound in a phone. When I replay the video it sounds louder than the reality of it. We do have an echo in our kitchen. Our table is in the same space and the fan does not interrupt conversation, for example - which was my biggest concern when purchasing. We are a noisy family and often have music playing, etc… so like I said, it’s very personal. Hope my experience helps you! I really don’t like annoying noises - and for some reason this fan doesn’t bother me. My parents’ kitchen aid fan, on the other hand, makes my skin crawl 😂. For me it’s not about the volume, but about the particular sound the fan makes. Second video is me shutting it off and you’ll hear the fan also shuts off. Good luck!...See Moreakrogirl32
