Old galvanized pipes have a finite lifespan. If you repair this leak, you have a good chance of it developing another leak in another location. The only good solution is a complete pipe replacement. The major expense of a pipe replacement will involve the digging of the trench from the meter to the house. This is an area where a DIYer can save some money. Have the utilities companies come out and mark the location of the pipe and any other utilities going to the home. Then you can choose a route parallel to the current pipe but just far enough away from it that you aren't disturbing it. You can rent a trencher (Maybe $200) and hand dig the larger access points at the meter and house. Then you can call a plumber to lay the pipe and make the connections. If you are not physically capable of doing this, then do you have any family or friends that would be? Church group? Scout troop? There are usually community resources that can help you to figure out what you can do here. The worst thing you can do is to ignore the leak.

I wouldn't go. If she doesn't want you there on her special day, don't give her a reason to resent you for ruining it (in her own mind anyway) It would just give her something else to whine about. You're SDs sound like they have a lot of growing up to do. Why spend a whole day being uncomfortable? Let your DH and younger SD go and enjoy the wedding without distraction. Plan a day for yourself,and enjoy it. As for younger SD moving out, yeah,let's see how the older one and her husband will welcome another adult into their home after they are just married and starting a life together. Frankly, I admire the fact you have even tried this long to connect with them. If it were me, I would be counting the days til that 18th birthday, and celebrate it by helping the little shrew pack her crap into the back of a moving van and changing the locks....but that's just me. Both of them are old enough now to know that you are not trying to be a substitute for their mother,and they should certainly realize how you make their father happy. What did they want? Their father to wallow away in miserable solitude,lighting a candle for their mothers memory every night until his death? They sound childish and selfish. I suspect that when they are older and hopefully wiser,perhaps with children of their own, they will come around and apologize for their terrible treatment of you. But I digress. To sum it up, don't go. SD doesn't want you there, and it's her day. Don't take it personally,as she sounds like a petulant brat who would treat anyone who had married her father the same way. You will not enjoy it. SD would not enjoy it. DH wants you there as his wife,good for him, but it may be a relief to him if you decided on your own not to go. He would have to deal with his daughters tantrums. Go to the spa. Go shopping. Take advantage of an empty house and eat bon bons on the couch in your underwear. Anything. We have to few days on this earth to spend any one of them doing something unpleasant if we can avoid it. You not only can avoid it, but have been given a free pass to do so. Take it.

I appreciate that everyone. Yeah, I have pretty much learned about most that I own. I usually look up the info on growing conditions and needs before I buy them. Some go into my greenhouse, some into a much cooler bright room, some into my sunroom up stairs where it's always warm and humid kind of with a humidifier. Lots of fans in every room and bright sunlight but not direct sun. I never thought of disease issues until I talked to the orchid grower. I never worried about growing them until he pointed out the possibilities of rot and diseas with shared water or using rain water.. Who knows, but lost I have few due to improper watering more than anything, I think . Now, I am afraid that I will get a full blown out disease situation that will wipe my collection out. I don't have pest issues. My only way of making it easy on myself IS to put several into a large tote and soak them all at once. It hydrates the roots really well and when I mentioned that to him, I was told it was a bad idea. Now more work. The only time it's easier to water all that I have is when they are outside with a hose. It does say on the Physan20 bottle to spray all my orchids once a month to help prevent algae and disease. So I was thinking if I was to share the same water when soaking many at once, using the recommended amount of Physan20 per gallon and then soaking them without a worry of disease spreading, no? It seems more than anything, I am now worried about spreading some sort of disease unexpectedly than how to grow them, their feeding, light and air needs, if that makes sense. I will say that I have not lost any orchids over the past few years except a Phal or two to crown rot but now I prevent that with lots of air movement so that if the crowns get wet when watering, they dry fast. But now the thought of introducing some sort of bacteria that causes crown or root rot doesn't sit well with me(( Mike

Katrina, definitely not offended lol. I am very used to house and you will get 100 suggestions, i take the ones i like and use the others for lessons learned lol. For the bedding, i usually switch out my comforter set every month so the silver will make a reappearance. I have 4 sets that i rotate. Believe me, i agree with you that the clock will look better over the chair, i just really like the two paintings and the Art Deco wall. I always wanted one. So some things are style, and some things are just personal touches and things that i personally enjoy but i do appreciate all feedback because you could have chosen to bypass my post but you didn’t.
