Backsplash decision driving me mad !!
Comments (47)With that busy floor and the veining in the counter I don't think you need any more action at all. I like the floor by the way so I don't mean busy in a bad way. It's just that it does add a definite vibe and I think the simple gray subway you picked out could tie in nicely with it. I would not do a marble subway. You're kitchen doesn't really call for marble in my opinion. It's very nice but it's just not fancy or modern like that. Let the backsplash reflect the other elements in the kitchen: Simple, clean, non fussy. And let it tie to something- your counters and (since your have a tile floor) also your floor....See MoreTomatoes ............... EB Driving Me Mad!!!
Comments (14)For the most part the disease is airborne but I do believe anytime we are dealing with "spores" we should assume the that the soil can also harbor the villain, so to speak. I'm going to suggest planting your tomatoes in the raised beds with quality soil, lots of OM and well aerated. I would run a drip or soaker type hose along the side of the plants when you plant them along with a slow release granular fertilizer. Put down several inches of mulch to cover the soil. Then.... cover the bed with a tall 3-4 ft row cover (the taller the better). I use the tallest row hoops I can buy or make my own. Cover them with a greenhouse plastic (buy it online). As the tomato plants grow keep the bottom 12-14 inches of the stem pruned free of side shoots/leaves. ONLY water through the drip hose. The whole premise is to keep the tomato leaves DRY. In this way we are removing the conditions that give the disease a way in. And ... I would space them at least 3ft apart as others have suggested. When it gets too warm or you have some condensaton inside these "miniature greenhouses" open the ends on the tunnels or roll back some of the plastic ... But only during the hot part of the day and never when its raining and always cover them at night. When they get too tall for the row cover you will have to remove it but hopefully we'll be past the season for early blight and your tomatoes will be strong and robust enough to fight it off if necessary. Good Luck!...See MoreNeed help choosing a BM off-white paint for a walk-in closet
Comments (9)what kind of bulbs do you have in there? they look on the lower temperature or 'yellow' end. You may want to replace the lighting, or at least the bulbs to something in a 4000K temp. what color is currently there? it already looks like an off-white. I like using the white straight out of the can with no tint added. it's the perfect white. You could always try that in your closet. with your lighting, it will take on a warmer hue anyway. And, if you don't like it, take it back and have your tint added to it for another color. free. I've never heard of Simply White having a green cast. it's one of the most neutrals whites. Chantilly has a blue/green cast. does it have to be white? why not a color? I'd also paint the wood trim in there a glossy white. it will help w/the freshen-up. Alabaster is a warmer white. pale oak is the perfect neutral and works with everything. (you could do that for the wall and the Alabaster for that wood trim)...See MoreWhat do I need to do to get these off-white cabinets white?!
Comments (2)We considered Bakery Box for our cabinets. Went with Valspar Woodlawn Dewmist. But - the only recommendation I can give is to get samples of the whites that you like from multiple manufacturers. Paint at least a 5x7 if not 8x10 stretched fabric panel with them. Look at the colors in all types of lighting conditions. Both Bakery Box 'Dewmist' are not pure whites. Neraly all (except for base white) will have tint added. it will throw the color to a warmer or cooler zone. Best Wishes...See More1sandyh
