backsplash decision with delicatus white (pic heavy)
Comments (25)I would go with the whole wall of mother of pearl too. I am biased because I am going to do it that way for my kitchen too:) OP, Sorry to hijack your thread but I wanted to comment on Pipdog's beautiful kitchen and ask her a question too. PipDog, I have said it before but just want to tell you how much I love your kitchen. Also, is your cabinets a warm white? I have a creamy white cabinets in the perimeter with espresso in the island. And a black granite in the perimeter with kashmir white in the island. Marble seems to gray for my cabinets and I don't want to do off white for the backsplash. So, I was wondering if the Mother of pearl may be the one to pull in the cream and grays together?...See MorePlease help me choose floor/backsplash combo
Comments (16)For practical reasons, I don't like marmo click in the kitchen, the reason being that the layer of lino on top of the cork base is very thin, and I've had some gouges/dents. Now that I think about it, the gouges didn't penetrate to the cork, but it just seemed like the cork was too soft for a kitchen application. One of my friends also had click in her kitchen and said she wouldn't do it again, for the same reasons I mentioned. So, I would recommend one of the options that includes the sheet marmoleum. I like it paired with the funky yellow and white BS. I also like the idea of a plain yellow backsplash--it creates a nice chunky colour -- I think the term is 'colour blocking'. Slightly warmer than than the straight white BS. Really, I like all your options :-) but I highly recommend marmo sheet rather than click. You can do 2 graphic elements as long as they are completely different in scale (this is what I read somewhere). Marmoleum feels and looks wonderful!...See MoreHood is finally in - backsplash decision needed
Comments (24)I like the versailles pattern very much: the multi color helps give a balance of colors going on: did you know you can get quartzite 4x4 6x6 and 12x12 in different colors? Quartzite is stunning material! (A rock formed from the metamorphism of quartz sandstone: Quartzite (from German Quarzit[1]), not to be confused with the mineral quartz, is a hard, metamorphic rock which was originally sandstone.[2] Sandstone is converted into quartzite through heating and pressure usually related to tectonic compression within orogenic belts. Pure quartzite is usually white to grey. Quartzites often occur in various shades of pink and red due to varying amounts of iron oxide. Other colors are commonly due to impurities of minor amounts of other minerals. In true metamorphic quartzite, also called meta-quartzite, the individual quartz grains have recrystallized along with the former cementing material to form an interlocking mosaic of quartz crystals. Minor amounts of former cementing materials, iron oxide, carbonate and clay, are often recrystallized and have migrated under the pressure to form streaks and lenses within the quartzite. Virtually all original textures and structure have usually been erased by the metamorphism.) fun facts! ~Happy Holidays~...See MoreBacksplash will be the death of me.....
Comments (37)Does anyone know how much color variation (within a color) there is for Sonoma Stellar crackle tile? I have a sample (ecru) and was told there is variation among pieces, but the two sample pieces I was shown don't vary much, so I can't tell... I do want variation....See Morechrisandkaren
