Better Bench? Teak Bench? No Bench?
Comments (28)This is a great topic. I've been thinking lately about my master bathroom remodel of the future and wondering what I'll do in my shower. I would love to be able to either sit or prop my leg up for shaving. But I also wonder if my shower is too small for any kind of bench. Thanks, Olychick, for the picture and dimensions of your shower and bench. It's incredibly helpful. If you don't mind my asking, can you feasibly fit two into the shower with the bench or does the bench interfere? I'm hoping to steal about 6" of length in my shower which currently can fit two with some minimal elbowing while one person shampoos. I'm concerned that adding a bench will make it impossible. Thanks, writersblock, for posting that Houzz picture. That fold down bench looks much nicer than I'd feared a teak bench might look in a pale colored shower....See MoreSmall backyard ideas for a better look
Comments (16)wow, that's a bit claustrophobic! What about putting up a free standing panel or wall opposite your door which would blunt the effect of the trees somewhat and block debris? You could use the panel to add a water feature, which would blunt the noise of the busy street. Or add an enclosed fire feature to it, or plants, or seating, or paint it a fun color -- the possibilities are endless, depending on your budget. Instead of an open fire pit, you could install some accent lighting, an enclosed gas fire feature, or even a bowl with flameless candles. Don't forget to look through "small yard" or "privacy wall" photos on Houzz or Pinterest for inspiration. Even though you don't need privacy per se, such barriers are what I'm thinking of....See MoreTable console or bench or both?
Comments (12)Hi HU, I agree that better lighting would be the top priority here. In addition to replacing the boob light fixture, there are some companies that will cut a hole in your door and add a glass insert, much less expensive than if you had to replace the whole unit. Your hallway is not that wide, so you might want to avoid furniture unless it is really needed, maybe just a narrow bench with space for boots underneath. You could then put art in the two niches (I wouldn't use mirrors because there is nothing for them to reflect). It depends on your style, but something with heavy texture like a wall hanging would warm up all the smooth surfaces in this room. Good luck, and I think it will look much better when you have moved in and there is something in the adjoining rooms for the eye to travel to....See Morewhat dining table and chairs would look best in this small space? d
Comments (15)How many people will be eating at the table on a regular basis? Are you removing the other window coverings because I think they look nice and relate well to the living room. One suggestion would be to have bench seating under your crosses (please keep them) with a narrow long rectangular table and 2 to 3 chairs across from the bench. It would tuck it closer to the wall so you have walking space. You could then put china cabinets or bookcases on either side of the door. Another suggestion would be to set up a table that goes from a console to a table to sit 8-10 peopls. You could set it up as a desk for everyday. It's a hard room because of the doorways....See Moreshirlpp
