I don't understand the question. Maybe a bit more info as to the size of the space and what are you planning to put in the niches or maybe just close them up. You for sure need better lighting so maybe start there to set the style for the entry. A new front door would be grat too with a lot more glass since this is a very dark space .

I do not know if i should put a bench under the first wall niche or a table console? or a bench or a table console under the second wall niche? the first one is closest to the door. what i decide to put on the wall will depend on what goes under each one, a table or bench

For me, I'd remove the trim and fill in the wall niches. Is this a door where you will come in and routinely leave shoes, jackets, umbrellas? In that case a narrow bench may be best. You could add wall mounted lighting. If it is a 'company-only' front door, you might prefer a narrow console with additional tabletop lighting. You really don't want to block the walking space, so I'd build a model out of cardboard to see how any prospective item fits. If it seems at all cramped to you the best answer may be nothing. Except more light, as Patricia pointed out.

Hi HU, I agree that better lighting would be the top priority here. In addition to replacing the boob light fixture, there are some companies that will cut a hole in your door and add a glass insert, much less expensive than if you had to replace the whole unit. Your hallway is not that wide, so you might want to avoid furniture unless it is really needed, maybe just a narrow bench with space for boots underneath. You could then put art in the two niches (I wouldn't use mirrors because there is nothing for them to reflect). It depends on your style, but something with heavy texture like a wall hanging would warm up all the smooth surfaces in this room. Good luck, and I think it will look much better when you have moved in and there is something in the adjoining rooms for the eye to travel to.

I would get rid of niches. They are limiting what you can do with the space. Do you have a coat closet? Do you need a place to sit to put on/take off boots? Or just something decorative like console table?

I love the look of a console table or a bench but you are right the wall niches are limiting i really dont care for them i have 3 boys that come home and take off their shoes at the door per request so i’d like something for that …no coat closet by the front door

I suggest you try mounting a 3D object in the first niche and then use the second niche for a mirror and table I don't see the need for a bench unless you would like to slide one under the table for use when it's needed.
