Looking for recommendations/feedback on layout and cabinet brands

We bought our place back in 2017 and it definitely needed a kitchen remodel. Initially we planned to just take the cabinets down and refinish them however, once down we decided they just needed to be replaced and we also decided to take the wall down between the kitchen and dining room to open the area up a bit more. Now we’re trying to decide which cabinets to go with.

We have two quotes so far from the same cabinet store.

Quote 1

Brand: Mantra

Line: Omni

Price: $8,768.90

Notes: This price is including a 30% promotional discount, tax and delivery. Does not include countertop and installation. Leadtime 2-3 weeks for the cabinets.

Quote 2

Brand: Showplace Cabinets

Line: Concord

Price: $22,912.26

Notes: This price is including a 30% promotional discount, tax and delivery. Does not include countertop and installation. Leadtime 6-8 weeks for the cabinets.

It appears Mantra is a newer budget line owned by MasterBrand. I’ve not been able to find very much independent information or reviews for this line yet.

I initially like the Showplace cabinets better but have seen several reviews noting that their Showplace cabinets arrived with damage and poor-quality control and that the subsequent replacements sometimes arrived with damage as well.

We’re looking for any feedback on the two lines mentioned as well as any other recommended brands. We plan on putting in quartz countertop and would prefer to not spend the money on the nicer countertops only to put them on cabinets that are going to give us problems down the road… We’re willing to pay a bit more for a better-quality product but just unsure about how to measure quality in the cabinet world with such wildly varying prices between brand/lines of products.

This specific store carries:

  • Fabuwood
  • Showplace Cabinetry
  • Showplace Evo
  • Ultracraft
  • Mantra
  • Wolf Designer
  • Wolf Classic

Questions:

  1. Do these prices seem on par with expected prices? (We’re located in MD, 7 wall cabinets, 11 base cabinets and 2 pantry cabinets)
  2. What’s your opinion on whether the more than $14,000 price difference is justified?
  3. What other brands/lines would you recommend?
