Living room wall color vs sofa color...
Comments (67)Thanks, kitch! You’ve been a big help! I think I like that look best as well. I have just been admiring that big light blue pottery barn vase for a long time now and was excited to try it out. Maybe down the road I could try it on the floor in front of the mantle (at this point my toddler would have a field day with it!). Debating if I should keep it or return it and possibly rebuy later. Got it for about $100 during the friends and family sale. Hmm... What do you think about these looks for my mantle refresh? I appreciate your input! :) Option 1: current look + new throw basket (I’ll probablt put a burnt orange throw in the basket) Option 2: new vase with eucalyptus leaves + new plants on each side Option 3: swapped out the leaves for berry stems Option 4: removes small plants from left Option 5: Swapped out small plant for a slightly different plant Option 6: swapped out plant for one in a tin vase Option 7: swapped out the small plant for a small white vase Option 8: basically same setup i have now, with the addition of the vase! I really wanted to try to incorporate the mercury glass candles since I have mercury glass in other areas of the house. Any of these groupings can use the eucalyptus leaves instead of the berry stems; I just didn’t feel like taking two photos of each look! :)...See Morewhat color sofa should i add to living room to warm it up
Comments (8)If you love the blue, then a sapphire sofa in velvet would not be amiss.....add a pair of lounge chairs in a bright turquoise, hot pink, bright orange, neon yellow. I think a rug in grey and white would add brightness and block some of the dark flooring. Large modern are with your room colors would be great....it if often suggested on Houzz that large art can be hung and then all the colors taken from the art work an be used to design the room. A lot of white works nicely with silver and cream. Keep the grey but add two colors all over the room Cherry red with black white grey accents Subtle yellow/cream/honey and white Lime and grey and white Tres chic if you like traditional Bright blue sofa with pop of orange....See Moreideas on couches for living room
Comments (3)If the children use it the most, get a microfiber fabric as it's so easy to clean. You just spray alcohol on it and stain disappears. I don't think you should choose colors from a painting unless it's a keeper for life and inspires you. In my experience dark colors show stains worse than light. I would choose a medium tone sofa and chair. What colors do you like? Give us some ideas of your preferences. I wouldn't get a sofa with removable cushions on the back as they are a pain with kids using them. Soooo solid back sofa and chair. Since it's not a huge room make it no longer than 72 inches and look for narrower arms as they take up space. Figure out where you will place the sofa and measure the area and take pics and bring them with you so you can visualize it in the spot you want to place it. Go to overstock.com or wayfair.com and look at the couches or ensembles if you want the to match. I hope this helps a bit....See MoreLiving room Couch layout? Design ideas?
Comments (3)I agree about the piano, it was a childhood birthday gift/family heirloom and I truly dislike having it there. I'm sure overtime, the TV legs could wear into the piano. The fireplace itself is actually a two-way fireplace that can be used from either the kitchen or the living room. We are not proud of this wall, because it is a strange configuration and I guess it shows. Eventually, I may want this wall torn down, but of course, there will be challenges with a widely open floor plan, particularly for kitchen cabinet space.
