THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND VIKANE KILLED THOUSANDS OF MY PLANTS AT MY HOME NURSERY SPECIALIZING IN MILKWEED. Other pesticide applications are also killing them. I have all the documentation. VIKANE DAMAGE PICTURES ARE BEING BLOCKED ON THE INTERNET! I want to fight this, and looking for more people with pictures of damage this pesticide that was designed as a CHEMICAL WEAPON. My hair fell out, myself and my husband almost died and have had to fight for my life for 2 years after allowed to tent 3x next door in 12 months and then again one month later a couple doors down for 4x in 13 months! Look at this distinctive burn mark on my stems. There were other pictures like this on the internet and now they are gone? Saw them when typed in Vikane damage. Now not there? Just found this document that shows the damage when high levels of Fluoride are introduced and shows the same pattern I have on my big green leaves all over the place. GardenWebber sprouts_honor (Jennifer from Cleveland) had a wonderful suggestion on how to tell whether or not you need to water your tomatoes, and I quote here: "Get a wooden dowel rod (or two) and sink it in the ground near a plant or two and leave it. Pull it out when you think you need to water. If the top is dry and the bottom is a little damp, it's time to water. If it looks dark and feels saturated, wait to water. I use this technique with potted plants that don't like being over watered and it's helpful with in ground plants too." Two or three dowels stuck in the ground in the garden amounts to cheap insurance. I myself put a couple in each row of tomatoes in the garden and use them to adjust the timing on my drip system if it needs it. I will also put one next to any tomatoes that don't appear to be doing as well as it's neighbors as that can tell me if a dripper is partially clogged or I need to check for another solution. Looks tiny. Pot looks small too. Probably ripened too soon due to stress or it just didn't like life enough. Let us know how it was though. Flavor, sweetness, texture, if the fruit was fully formed inside. And some one info on the growth of the plant. How long you have had it. How long the fruit has been growing. Root rot or any other issues while the fruit was growing?

I wouldn't fret too much about some yellow leaves here and there. Your toms look fine to me. My toms can sometimes look pretty shabby as the season progresses. That said, you want to avoid killing it with kindness. You might be getting some fried roots with a small black pot in direct sun. Water might not be penetrating the newspaper barrier on top of the soil. Tomatoes are resilient enough and do well enough if we just leverage their will to live. :) I grow toms year round in EarthBoxes using Dr Earth organic tom & veg fertilizer (5-7-4). One of the tenets of organic gardening is the use of water insoluble forms on nitrogen (Dr Earth fits the bill).
