My dumbest moment, What;s yours?
Comments (37)OMG, these stories are priceless!!! My co-workers probably think I'm nuts as I sit here alone in my office laughing my behind off! First off, I'm not sure anyone can top KTer Dottie's Bathcapades! Here's my story... Back when I was in my mid 20s I had long flowing hair which I liked to keep off my face. Didn't like ponytails, too old for pigtails and I grew up with headbands of all sorts, needed something new. So I find a cool pair of sunglasses and start wearing them around to do the job. It became somewhat of a trademark for me so I wore them a lot. Many months down the road, perhaps a year or two I notice two disturbing dents on the top of my head. I make an appointment with my GP. He examines them closely, asks all kinds of questions, examines them again and finally tells me he has no idea what it could possibly be. I thanked him for his time, slid my sunglasses back on my head and walked to the door. All of a sudden I hear "uuuh Jodi, could you come back here for a minute?" He takes my glasses off my head, examines them, points to the two nose bridge thingies and didn't have to say anything else. I turned bright red, he was laughing so hard the nurse came in. I turned brighter red and left ... with my sunglasses in my purse. LOL Right now I'm in the creating stages of some potentially dumbest moment. For a year now we hear a beep when we're in the living room. It is not constant and there is no rhyme or reason for it. I've removed everything I can to eliminate possibilities but so far am at a complete loss what it might be. I'll report back to this thread when I figure it out, because it's bound to be something that is very obvious. Jodi-...See MoreWhat’s for Dinner #375
Comments (100)WalnutCreek, I'll have to try pork chops in the Air Fryer. I have one but the only thing I've liked so far that I made in it was "fried" chicken". Beet chips just fell into the bottom and charred, fish was dried out, potato chips were fiddly and half were crunchy but the rest were not. (sigh) After the beet chip fiasco I shoved it onto a pantry shelf and haven't touched it since, I'll have to drag it back out. Yesterday I took Mother some roasted chicken and twice baked potatoes, the chicken was brined 24 hours and high heat roasted ala AnnT. It was really good, extremely moist and even the breast meat wasn't dry. I also made a big batch of split pea soup, Mother loves it. I had to use yellow peas because I had those and the store didn't have any green split peas (or any other dried beans) in stock. sleevendog, your garden is growing well, and Elery would love an artichoke pizza. Neely, stay well, I'm glad your sons are delivering food, I stopped and did Mother's grocery shopping yesterday and dropped off groceries along with her prepared meals. Jasdip, I'm glad you're just "hunkering down" and there's no reason for quarantine! As for that leprechaun, we didn't catch him, but he dropped some of his treasure, a couple of strings of beans, a few of those "gold" colored dollar coins and some glittery hair clips. Maci insists that she heard "tiny little footsteps in the night" and nearly caught the leprechaun eating all the chocolate, LOL. Comments (62)Love the sound of distant, rolling thunder. Rain. Most wind chimes, especially the tuned, deep toned ones. And some lightly tinkling glass ones. Babies' happy giggles. Owls hooting late at night, especially if the coyotes are howling at the same time. Train whistles in the distance. The 'old timey' whistles when trains were coal powered and the whistles were steam. The current ones, not so much. My most hated sound many would call music, but I call it horrendous, torturous screeching, bagpipes. Closely followed by electronic music boxes, especially those greeting cards that start screeching when you open them. Children, or anyone for that matter, being excessively loud in a restaurant. Sirens blaring from all the 'official' cars at the beginning of a parade. High pitched voices. I also have Tinnitus, and have lost a lot of my hearing. But I do not like to have any 'background' noise going on all day, I prefer quiet. TV, radio, music, etc., is on only when there is something I want to watch or listen to. I like quiet! Constant sound wear me out! Rusty...See MoreFriday Night Music - The World & Places In It
Comments (48)"Elmer, there used to be The Ian Tyson Show on CTV in Canada. He and Sylvia fronted a band called The Great Speckled Bird." Yes, I know. I'm a longtime fan of their work as I&S. His treatment of her and minimization of her contributions throughout are disgusting. Among other things, she complained and tired of his lack of interest in sharing lead singing parts equally with her. I'm no fan of his (as an individual or as a performer) at all. As I recall, he grew up in Western Canada and was drawn toward country music at some point along the way. I've read John Einarson's book (that they both collaborated on) and if I recall correctly, Ian's tendencies toward infidelity ended their relationship. I've seen Sylvia perform live several times and enjoyed her performances very much....See MoreUser
