paint color and decor dilemma

Hello,
I wanted to repaint my color a pretty very light teal color but it turned out like this instead. I really think it looks awful. I wanted it to be a very subtle soft color but it turned out super bright. I don’t want it so minty! Any suggestions on colors???

I wanted it to go with my rug.
Excuse the bed and mess it had just been repainted.
Any other suggestions for decor and lighting as well would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Try Sherwin Williams Sea Salt or Rainwashed.

I think it looks very pretty!! If you add some darker art to the walls it will tone it down a bit.

Here it is, six months after my original posting, and I just painted the living room yesterday ( and actually still have to freshen the paneling and trim with a fresh coat too!) I did decide on my paint color not long after my original post and purchased the paint, but it sat around a few months. I had a major event occur which took my mind completely off decorating... my mare had a foal, rejected him, and I've spent the last 10 weeks being a mother to a four legged colt. It has been very time consuming and incredibly rewarding, but left little time for much else... The new paint color is a terra cotta shade, and I love it! My DH kept saying he really liked the red, so this is not much of a departure, but warmer and lighter than what was there before. Haven't done anything with the fabric yet... too busy halter breaking my colt. Anyway, here are pics of the new paint color, and pics of Tuff, my handsome boy. Color is Bold Brick by Sherwin Williams. Color is dun (complete with dorsal stripe) compliments of his sire.

I just wanted to say bless your heart, Daisy. People who adopt needy animals hold a very special place in my heart. I hope you, your family, and your new fuzzy darling all have a lovely holiday! He is so lucky to be with you, and I suspect that feeling is mutual. There is an email list on clicker training cats that you may enjoy, btw. Cats are just as easy to train as dogs are. I have been 'net friends with the lady who runs it for over a decade and you won't find a better animal trainer. She's a former dolphin trainer, btw, and co-runs the bird clicker list with me, and teaches dog clicker training classes as well. You'll love her.

That single plate is too small for that wall. It's probably going to be too small as a single on any wall. How about getting a plate stand and displaying on what looks to be a buffet in the dining room? As for the rest of your walls, I'd be happy to make recommendations, but not without seeing the entirety of each room. The foyer wall, for example, is located where in relation to the front door? Is that wall the first thing you see when you enter?

@staceywj . Im not sure what yours looks like, so it's hard to suggest. You could make a separate design dilemma and post a DIY tag to it. . If you want to create a frame around an upholstered headboard, you could use a a large piece of foamboard 4x8 from hardware store (have a vacuum handy when you cut it using a knife. Use spray adhesive, 1" upholstery foam and batting. I imagine it would be lightweight to be held in place with hot glue. You could add corded trim to hide hot glue runs. I found this video for a channel tufted headboard. Although a project, it looks very achievable. I plan to make one and mount it to the wall. My super tall DH dislikes footboards, so finding the right bed has been a task. At the moment, I've cheated a headboard look with king size pillow shams. Nickel 25-25 by Pratt and Lambert.

Sherwin Williams owns Pratt and Lambert so you can get a sample, gallons from Sherwin Williams. If a store carries Pratt & Lambert, you can get a chip. Otherwise, you have to buy a Color to Go Jug from SW but I think it's worth it.

There are no other colors in any brand that are similar to Nickel.

I actually got a sample of sea salt from Sherman Williams and tried it on the wall. It seems very gray in my room which is not the way I want to go. But maybe it was the lighting at the time? Maybe if do 50-50 sea salt mix with white it won’t seem so dark?

Here's how I do samples at home. I paint a wall the same white as the trim. Then use a posterboard and paint it. Carry and place the posterboard around the room at different times of day. Look at it in corners, near your windows, adjacent to furniture.

Yes, for sure get some light in there.

Another note is that for interior softer colors, you have to go more muted than you think, if you're not accustomed to choosing indoor paint colors. Go for more shaded colors.
