Decorating dilemma for living room

I am in need of ideas for my living room. I have loved the red walls for over ten years, but it's time to go lighter. The window treatments are also a little too much and I would like to hang some panels using clip rings from simple black rods. Lately I've even been considering painting the fireplace.... but convincing my DH to do so would require major work! It has a wood stove insert and we use it constantly.

Colors I'm thinking about for the walls include sage green or creamy beige. The bottom part of the wall has the original V-joint tongue and groove horizontal wooden paneling painted in off white.

I have fabric that I bought years ago and could have it sewn into panels. I love the pattern - would it work in the room, and if I use it, what color should the walls be?

I'll be using Sherwin Williams paint. Thank you for any insight or suggestions!
