Bedroom Curtains, part 2: The Plot Thickens
Comments (23)teeda: Thanks. I might get the holdbacks that match the rod? tfm1134: You're so sweet--thanks very much! The white coverlet is Sferra Poppy--I bought it at a seriously reduced price on eBay. The taupe coverlet and shams I bought at Restoration Hardware on deep discount a few years ago--they no longer carry that style, but there are similar coverlets on eBay all the time. perky2: That's so nice of you--thanks. :) My dh prefers the long length, too--so I guess we're going to go with that. I'm on my way to CC now to purchase them. Will post pics later!...See MoreBedroom - Which SW gold? Curtains? Gold, white, linen?
Comments (27)Ikplatow - That's so nice of you to offer! Thanks! I've heard IKEA is a fun place to hang out. I did think about road tripping it one day but I just looked on mapquest and it's over a three hour drive. ..... For now, I'll focus on painting and the bed. :) I'll probably change my mind a bunch before I settle on curtains. I would hate to get down there and see others that "could work". I'm known to return things and that wouldn't be an option in this case, lol! I really do think it's ridiculous that you can't buy certain things online. I was just at Kirkland's site the other night and was considering ordered wall sconces but NOOOo have to go to the store for them too. That would also be a trip and a half....See MoreWhat color/style curtain and rod for this guest bedroom?
Comments (25)Scarlett, I'm sure you can paint the trim. If laminate can be painted, surely anything can be painted. It will take prep work to get the paint to adhere, but I'll bet it can be done. Nevertheless, if you are going to put up panels, so little of the frame will show, that I doubt it would be worth the trouble to paint. Here is my niece's dorm room. Sister mixed coral, turquoise and sage green with it - successfully, I think. Out of sight, are the curtains. She used white Cameron cotton curtains from PB, which are currently one sale if you are interested. (ignore ugly throw. It is Niece's "blankie". Not stylish, but it gives her comfort away from home) Here is a link that might be useful: Cameron curtain...See Morewhat length and placement of curtains in bedroom?
Comments (20)Mainenell - Definitely the 95 inch curtains - Put them at whatever height will allow them to just barely hit the floor (just above). Usually we recommend curtains be a width and a half for a single window. When making custom ( I know you're not), the fabric is 54 inches wide, and we go 1 and a half of that per panel or side. So that's 80 inches per side. You will never get that fullness with ready made drapes. Just get a full as you can. Get a wider rod than 40 inches. You'll want to place the rod so that most of the curtains are outside the window. It makes the window look larger and have more presence. A good rule of thumb is to put the rod brackets 3 - 4 inches or so away from the outer edge of the trim....See MoreGia N
