No, you're not weird. Our family has been doing "air hugs" this whole time :)

Regarding holidays, we have cancelled our Thanksgiving get together because there are too many of us. It's not worth the risk. If we had predictable weather and there was a way to have it outdoors safely, I would consider it.

Social distancing is essential plus the mask. The mask doesn't make the 6ft less important. (Also been doing the kiss blowing thing as well distant air hugs.}

We’ve been doing that! Stretch out your arms, as if to gather in the other person’s “essence”, then wrap your arms around yourself.

We do air hugs with the grandkids but from a lot farther than 6'. Sad, isn't it? I feel like I've missed out on a hunk of their lives. Bpath, I like your version, the arm wrap.

I have been doing it for years most frequently when I see a friend across the store/garden center. Some return them others just look puzzled. After you open your arms wide bring them into your body or just complete the circle. You could then move your shoulders side to side slightly twisting your body.

My 17 YO, 6'2" linebacker built grandson will get to about 6 or 7 feet from me, hold out both his arms, spread wide, then bring his closed fists to his chest, crossing his wrists just below his chin, and move his shoulders back & forth a bit. His mask is usually a camouflage print, and his eyes above it are definitely smiling. It is quite a sight to see! Not as good as a 'real' hug, of course, but it does feel good, I can feel the love!

Three people that I know that have caught covid, actually got it from family gatherings! Who they got it from, had not felt sick on the day of the gathering! Luckily, none got seriously ill, but still, you don't know.

We've been doing air hugs for awhile. Not as fun as the real thing, but they work.

I cross my arms across my body in a hug position then I usually blow a kiss. That works for me and my family.

I do namaste from yoga...stand facing each other, hands in prayer position in front of your chest and then do a slight bow and say namaste (nah-mah-STAY) which means the spirit in me honors the spirit in you. I like the sentiment and the respect it shows each other and that it's touch free....not a hug but good nonetheless.

Doing air hugs for years. My mom’s body would not make antibodies, so there were lots of air hugs.
