OHHHHH I LOVE your furniture choices. You are styling. Now I also love the un matchie matchie look and my house screams of it. But all my stuff is total yard sale crap I have collected over my long life time. Your Sofa is so Gorgeous. I would not want some one eating on it. My ottoman came from the free building at the dump. I threw a chenille spread over it I dyed to make it right . Kind of a purple fuchsia. Hahaha I have only bought new furniture when we bought the recliners for us which I know so tacky but we liked them and so comfortable. Bought a new mattress or three over the years and a new love seat and Tv. The TV can go away as far as I am concerned. I really like all the light colors you are using and falling into that soft looking cozy bed would be so glam at night. I feel like your bedroom will be screaming for some deco mirrors. But honestly do not listen to me because I am way out there in my decor. My friends were over the other day and she told me the house is turning rather girlie. Course my poor hubby had to put up with that side of me for 31 years. He kind of held me in check some times. Now he is gone I am trying not to go too crazy. Here are lots of photos of my house yard art so you can see where I am coming from and to be sure you do not listen to me. But I sure am enjoying your photos and energy is putting your wonderful small space together. LOVE the hutch too. OH and years ago my neighbor was a wood working kind of guy and he took out the wood panels in my kitchen cabinets and put in glass for me. It was wonderful. I did not need the cabinets for kitchen stuff I used them for my pretty stuff. If you can get glass in them and have some nice things to put on the shelves I would for sure do it. And in my secretary I painted the inside of the top shelves white so my pretty things would show up. Made a huge difference in the look of the piece. I will photo it for you if you like. And those burgundy chairs need white covers on them. I am looking to do that today. I was just give out when I finished painting and got this far the other day. Hi Nikki- What you do with your apartment really depends on your lifestyle and your needs. Do you entertain a lot and have people over for dinner frequently and need a table for 6 or not? Do you work at a desk frequently and need your computer and printer out and really need a desk and a return and a formal work space? If you are a social gal and entertain frequently, keep your dining room as your dining room and get a table and chairs, so you can have friends over at the drop of a hat, even if you are getting take-out. You can have your office in your living room, with bookshelves and a desk (make sure you have drawers that lock. Find a file cabinet that is attractive that locks as well, and a way to house your computer, printer, mode, router, external hard drive, and all your other things that conceal them and can be locked. Your bed can either be a convertible sofa (they are way more comfortable these days, or a Murphy bed as mentioned earlier. or a regular bed that is disguised in a variety of ways, some of which are shown above. If you live in a city, the odds are there are many small apartments and singles living in them. It might be worth it for you to consult with some experienced interior designers in your area about the best use of your space for your purposes. They may come up with some fantastic ideas especially suited for your needs and purposes and know just the people to make the items or where to purchase them.

IMO the bookshelves are not holding books and look really cluttered put the books from the DR in those shelves then get rid of the rack in the DR Remove all the shelves forn the center of the unit in the LR and get a TV to fit there . I love the sofa and Eames the light fixture would be better with an LED bulb in 4000K to avoid the yellow cast .The lamps on the sideboard in the DR are to small get all matching chirs for the DR remove the table cloth you need a larger rug in the DR or none at all. All that storage in the LR will be agodsend when the toys start taking over the adult space.

Would it be that we all aged at ninety plus to this?: Yes....... the wonderful lady, client and now dear friend is one whose apartment at senior living i remodeled, and also " mini re created" her former address. Will be 93 this summer, and she is INCREDIBLE. She doesn't shuffle, has no mobility issues..........however. Note no thresholds, area rugs that can come up. A kitchen with her favorite place to sit -at the counter on a Serena and Lily stool . We should all be so damn lucky. She wishes she had made the move SOONER and is enjoying the heck out of her busy life there. ( she's yapping on the phone second pic.... hard to catch up with her. Swim, bridge, duplicate bridge........"dinner with the WIDOWS" LOL " I have accepted that this will not be MY old age conditions, unless I cease eating and drinking.... and a lot of other stuff too : ) Folks? Go before you need to go. Don't cling to junk. Your kids don't want it. Or want a miniscule fraction of it. Whenever I read one of these "age in place" dilemmas? I think.....yeah.............right. You need friends, community, and spur of the moment help. Or as a doctor said to me: "At a little over eighty, your physiology balances on the head of a straigh PIN." Memorize it.
