Appliance Choices? Bosch, Electrolux, Miele
Comments (9)I would stay clear ofElectrolux refrigerators. I was told that Electrolux products were good quality. How far from the truth! Mine (E23CS75DSS, side-by-side, counterdepth) has been a major disappointment. Many of my problems started right away. * The seal on the freezer must not be tight, because shortly after I bought it a had a pound of dead ants on the bottom shelf of the freezer. * It is very loud and runs almost constantly. My 30 year old GE was less noisy. * The coating, that is supposed to make the stainless steel smudge-proof works very well, but shortly after we bought it it started to bubble up. *The doors are not aligned. One is higher than the other and sticks further out. * It is supposed to a counter depth. That is absolutely not true. When the doors are opened all the way they will hit the edge of your counter top. * The doors are supposed to have a mechanism that prevents them from flying open past a 40 degree angle, unless you want them too. That "stop" does not work anymore. Now we have to hold the door in a position that will keep it from hitting the counter top. * By year two some sticky brown fluid had leaked out of the bottom right door hinge, causing it too creak very loudly when being opened. I get sick to my stomach when I think that I paid over $2000 for this. It is not worth more than $500. Unfortunately due to the reputation of Electrolux in Europe we did not think that we needed to buy the extended warranty....See More30-inch Gas Range: GE Cafe, Thermador, KitchenAid, Monogram?
Comments (59)Hi Kayla - overall I like the dual fuel range. My husband loves the digital meat thermometer that came with it and we've made the best prime rib roasts since we've gotten this oven. The pre-heat does take awhile but we've gotten used to it. I've made cookies and they turn out great. We have also started using the lower oven more if we're baking something in a shallow dish, frozen garlic bread, rolls and etc. because it doesn't take as long to heat up. We've used the griddle to make sandwiches and pancakes and I'm happy with how that works and the easy clean up. I would say the stove top is easy to scratch if you aren't careful when you clean around the burners. Make sure you lift the grates up, off and set aside to clean and not just lift the front of the grates so you can wipe underneath. You'll scratch the little raised lip on the back of the stove top with the burner grates. I'm still not crazy about the overall height of the stove top but that's not really a fault. My husband on the other hand (6'2" tall) LOVES the dual range and all of it's features. He would highly recommend it to everyone. I like it. We also bought the matching over the range microwave. We bought it because you can bake in it and I thought we would really use that feature a lot but have found it takes a really long time to pre-heat the oven feature of the microwave and you have to use this little round raised baking rack which I have very few dishes that will fit, actually none now that I think about it. I thought it would be more like my old toaster/convection oven that sat on my counter top and it's really not at all. For the most part we just use the microwave to re-heat and warm things. I hope this helped...See MoreLooking for opinions on these appliances Thermador & Bosch
Comments (13)dbabrams, When I first picked up all my appliances there were several features that geared me towards Miele. The kitchen design called for a flush mount, and at that time, Subzero did not offer the flush mount refrigerators, basically their fridge and freezers stuck out a bit from the rest of the cabinets, because of the way their door hinges worked, so I picked Miele instead. Now I believe Subzero offers the flush ones. Also Miele offered any combination of fridge freezer because they sell them separate. I ended up getting a 36" fridge and a 36" freezer and Subzero did not have that option. I appreciate the huge space these units offer but frankly, the ones that are not flush from Subzero are much deeper than the Miele ones. I also thought about the combi steam oven and at the time of purchase the Miele one was the only one that offered it. Wolf had only a steam oven not the combi one. I got the Miele ovens to match all other appliances, but heard great reviews about Wolf as well....See MoreAppliance choices are so overwhelming! Thoughts on these choices?
Comments (7)We have a Bosch 800 series DW and love it! It's quiet, it cleans very well, and dish loading is easy b/c it's so flexible. We also have a Sharp MW drawer. You probably already know this, but Sharp makes most, if not all, MW drawers. The other "brands" (e.g., Dacor) are Sharp MW drawers with one or two minor changes in controls and a different look - oh and higher price tag! Some also have a smaller capacity (1.0 vs Sharp's 1.2 cu ft) and less power (950 vs Sharp's 1000 watts), Also, the 24" and 30" are the same size - the 30" just has more filler....See Morecpartist
