Comments (2)I hope you'll get some specific pro advice here, but if this were my home I'd want something more interesting than what I usually see done with this style. (Formal, boxwood, sculpted, etc.) Would you consider a fence across the front? What about something like this? It has all the traditional elements listed above, but the way they are arranged makes it more pleasing to my eye: I like this because it takes a symmetrical house and adds asymmetrical landscaping. So much more inviting and interesting to me....See MoreNeed Help Landscaping and Remodeling House Front
Comments (5)The retaining wall is about two feet high between the front yard and the street. You can see it in the pictures with light brown blocks as the wall itself. In the middle of it, there are two planters and a stair as show in this picture below. This is a needed wall due the difference in height between the yard and the street. There is also a small brick wall in front of the house that you can see in the photos as well. The small brick wall nearest to the house is decorational only. I dislike the stone walls that are attached to the house. You can see that around the corner of the house and around the front door. Reminds me of the Flintstone's house. And of course, the air conditioners sticking out the walls of the house have got to go too....See MoreNeed advice for simple DIY updates to my flat front, brick colonial
Comments (7)I would not do wood look doors. I would paint the garage door a darker color so it does not stand out as much, and change the odd trim above to go across the full width of the garage. I'd consider painting the gable wall above the garage a darker color too, with the goal of making it less noticeable. The front door is the wrong style for the house, and it does need painting. Consider adding a surround or small porch. This shows an idea for the shutters, painting them a complementary rather than contrasting color. I grabbed a color from the brick as an example, but not recommending the color. Fresh landscaping will help too. Those larger bushes will probably need to come out, but they may be able to be trimmed....See MoreHelp with Front yard Landscape design - Amateur needs some help :)
