Amazon add-on items and prime pantry.
Comments (20)I've had Amazon Prime for years and probably use it enough to make the membership fee worth it. While I don't necessarily need things right away, I must admit that it does become very convenient when I do need something rather quickly. especially something that might be more time consuming to find locally. I also stream movies/shows occasionally. Most recently, I was able to buy used textbooks for my high schoolers much more inexpensively and being a Prime member, could get them in a timely manner rather than wait for the book rate shipping which can take three weeks. Most of the things that I buy are not add on or Pantry items but if I did want something like that, I'm sure I could easily wait until I was ordering something else. MD has required us to pay sales tax for at least a year now, but it is not on everything I purchase. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I'm guessing it depends on where the item is being shipped from. For example, one of the textbooks I ordered I had to pay tax, but another I didn't. But it was still WAY cheaper for me to buy through Amazon so paying the tax was not a big deal. I think having a prime membership makes sense for someone like me, with four kids, but it doesn't make sense for people like my parents. My mother doesn't need to buy much online, has time to shop locally, and isn't buying random stuff like I am for my kids. She does, however, love to stream shows. She and my father have their own Netflix account, but it didn't really make sense cost wise for them to also get Amazon Prime. I logged her into my account from her iPad so she can watch movies/shows whenever she wants. And if she ever needs anything from Amazon that she can't get with free shipping, she just asks me to buy it for her. Her credit card number is stored in my account and have it shipped to her....See MoreWhat would you do - Amazon prime question
Comments (24)The only thing that I wonder about in this situation -- I believe that the vendor (if it wasn't Amazon itself) has to pay for return shipping, so they have not only not gotten an item back but are out the $ paid for it to be sent back from someone. Can't you contact the seller directly? Usually there is a way to do so. If the seller was Amazon, not someone selling via Amazon, then you've done enough already, I think. A year or two ago I ordered a garden tool. The seller sent me the wrong (and a more expensive) item. I returned it, told them it was the wrong item, and asked for the correct one. They sent me the wrong one again. I concluded that they had a mistake in their cataloguing system and messaged to that effect -- they told me to just keep the item....See MoreAbout Amazon Prime shipping times
Comments (48)Iris, I am in NC and ordered several things the past few days and they all say delivery Mon 24th. I called and inquired about this and was told it was due to Hurricane Florence. They said it may come earlier but do not expect it to. Many roads in and out of NC and SC are packed and/or not driveable so they're not sending trucks through. Hope this helps. Comments (34)This bait and switch with promised delivery is now built into Amazon's infrastructure. They promise a nice short 2 day prime delivery date when you order it, they never give you notice that the delivery date changed, and then when you want to complain they blame it on Covid-19. It is complete BS. They've incorporated this excuse into their system. They will say, that the clock on the promised two-day delivery doesn't start till the product is shipped, but it takes them two days or more to ship the product! So they never disclose this before you order! They blame it on Covid-19 and not having enough people to work their warehouses, but Bezo's added more than $70 Billion to wealth during this epidemic! If they offered enough money as pay, they would have the personnel they need to move your product on-time!...See MoreJilly
