Please help me finish my bedroom
Comments (25)Hello, I am katsmah's daughter. Thank you for all your compliments and ideas on the room. Almost everything you have recommended, I have tried, but she can be rather stuborn. First, I would like to say, I never leaned toward Tiffany Blue. I think it's too bright, and she doesn't like it anyway. I think the blue-ish grey that you see everywhere now would be beautiful in here. As far as prints, I think a Damask would be nice, it's mature and elegant to go with her beautiful furniture, but she doesn't like Damask, or really any prints for that matter. She wants to do stripes, which I think wouldn't go with the lines of the furniture. As far as moving the furniture around, I did a whole layout on a free website, but she said that outside wall is too cold, and she sleeps here, so it's her say in the end. As far as the headboard, I had first traced out the front arch of the dresser to get the proper length, it's the same width as a queen bed, and then I lined up the ends of the mirror to flow seemlessly into the arch and cut that out, but I don't think I can make a wood frame around it....Update! I just found out she want's Damask now, not stripes anymore. Thank you, now I can actually get this thing started. She is starting to trust me now that you have all confirmed what I have been saying. Thank you all....See MoreHelp me with finishing touches of my bedroom
Comments (9)I indeed noticed that your walls are pale blue. The art I posted has a lot of blue in it. The art you choose can be your inspiration point for completing the room. For instance, with this particular print, you could bring out the bluegreen or green of the picture & add a coverlet at the end of the bed to pull the colors into the room. I personally would avoid the ubiquitous blue/brown combination, while it is still a beautiful combo. But if that's what speaks to you, then perhaps this one that I've linked to is more of what you're thinking of color-wise. I would explore art.com for some great stretched canvas prints for over the bed, then choose your accents from that. ~Jeana Here is a link that might be useful: Wall Art...See MoreHelp me finish basement guest bedroom

Comments (3)Does "middle age guy" refer to you or your guest(s)? Are you designing for (mostly) one particular guest, or will your guests be more diverse? Generally, I think guest bedroom decor should be broadly appealing, inoffensive, and not terribly taste specific. Something that neither one's 90 year old grandma nor one's 14-year-old nephew would find unappealing. A happy medium. Maybe I'm not visualizing what you have in mind, but I don't think I would find silver/peach appealing (not a huge peach fan to start with, so take that with a grain of salt). I'd probably avoid silver (and other metallics) entirely (except in lamps and accessories) because they read glam, which works against "broadly appealing."...See MoreJilly
