Comments (15)Stacy, do yourself a favor and get yourself an external hard drive. I got one at Wal Mart at Christmas time. For about $100, it will back everything up that's on your computer. It comes with the usb cord. stick one end in the external drive. Stick one end into the computer. It does what it has to do without any help from you. When it's done, you unplug it. Next time you feel compelled to "clean" and screw up the pictures, or anything else, everything will be safe and sound on the external drive and you can put it back on the computer yourself....See MoreAm I Really That Weird??
Comments (34)I fought tooth and nail against getting a cell phone. I considered it a leash. I've had one for what seems forever now and boy was I wrong. I don't sit around the house. I'm always on the go and I don't always have a plan. My phone is MY connection to family and friends. I can call DH and let him know I'll be gone or to stop at the store or remind him of whatever. DS doesn't like to talk, he's a busy guy, but he'll always read and respond to a text. DD and I will call just to see if we're near one another to meet up for some "mom and me" time. When I'm picking up a friend I can call her as I drive down her street. When I carpool with several cars of Red Hatters we're able to stay in touch for unscheduled stops, wrong turns or change of plan. DS rides a motorcycle. I don't want to have to come home hours later to find out he's crashed. I like knowing I'm reachable immediately. When DH goes to the store and has to make a decision on something I sent him for they don't have,he calls. Car trouble? Call home or road service from the safety of my car. Out in a crowd and lose someone? Call them. See something I want to think about for later? Take a picture.See a drunk on the road? I call it in. That one sweet little device is a phone, a message center,a timepiece,a memo,a date book,a camera,an address book,a calculator and an alarm clock. How great is that? I have a basic plan with minimal minutes and tons of night and weekend minutes. I have never gone over and I pay around $40 a month. My phone is on 24/7. I rarely make a call over 5 minutes long and most are probably less than that. But I sure use it and I would feel naked without it. It's almost time for a new one and this one will have internet access. Woo-Hoo. No you're not weird. You just don't miss what you don't have. I've been there....See MoreAm I being weird
Comments (10)Is it really that they were making their visit conditional on whether or not Dad paid for the yearbooks or just that the need to have the yearbooks paid for happened to coincide with the phone call about the visit? I would think that this kind of timing coincidence would be a pretty common occurence, given that there are just lots of things to pay for, and on a very frequent basis, when you choose to have kids. Most kids get yearbooks, and in the grand scheme of things it's not an outrageous expense. Yearbooks are there to be mementos of school, and most of us keep ours forever, show kids, grandkids or just look at every once in a while ourselves through the years. Also don't see any problem with occasionally having a friend over, and conversely don't see it as anything to praise that a kid NEVER has a friend over. In this particular instance, I don't see anything coming from the kids in terms of requests as outrageous or anything to get upset over. I'm pretty sure the OP meant that SS's yearbook would be the additional one being paid for, not a friend's. (But if it WAS for a friend, that would be an unnecessary and presumptuous request for sure.) I do agree that, as with so many things, it's common courtesy to clue other members of the household in to things that will be going on in the house ---especially if they expect your help with any part of it--- with as much advance notice as possible....See MoreAm I crazy or maybe just weird?
Comments (24)Mine is odd, but not phrases--I'll think of something or someone I haven't thought of in ages, and I'll hear from them or about them. I got off on some tangent from the what would you eat for your last meal thread, and got to looking around to see what happened with the beltway (or DC) sniper because I couldn't remember. I read all the info on how he and his accomplice did what they did. There is a show called Monster in My Family, and do you know, they're airing his survivor and family member show next month? When's the last time you heard about him? Weird. _____________ Probably her Malvo and his mother, Una Sceon James, first met John Allen Muhammad in Antigua and Barbuda around 1999, where Una and Muhammad developed a strong friendship. Later, Una left Antigua for Fort Myers, Florida, using false documents. She left her son with Muhammad, reportedly planning to have him follow her later. Malvo arrived illegally in Miami in 2001 and, in December of that year, he and his mother were apprehended by the Border Patrol in Bellingham, Washington. (His mother was deported back to Jamaica from the U.S. on December 15, 2002 in the aftermath of the D.C. area sniper shootings.)...See Moreediej1209 AL Zn 7
