Do you want a small oven? If so, the Breville is lovely. Cuisinart's is supposed to be good as well. I loved my Breville. I had to give it up in my new kitchen. It has been replaced with a simple Cuisinart pop up toaster, which works fine.

Our Cuisinart TO makes far better toast than any conventional toaster we've ever had.

I have a Cuisinart toaster and it is very good. I found I never used the baking option in toaster ovens.

We've had a toaster-broiler-oven since they were first marketed. I use the oven setting most nights to warm rolls or bread. I rarely 'bake' anything that would require more than ten minutes and never broil in this; use my oven/broiler for that. We rarely toast bread or English muffins, but it's adequate for that. Our current (Krups) toaster-oven is about 25 years old, but smaller, cheaper models worked fine, too. (Not Black & Decker junk.) I like having two functions in one small appliance. Now, if it also microwaved...

I have a Breville but I've seen bread and rolls that a professional baker made in the Cuisinart Convection oven and they were very impressive. I haven't been entirely happy with the evenness of the browning of toast and baked goods in my Breville and I will look into the Cuisinart when it needs to be replaced. The on/off button is also fidgety. I do use it a lot to bake and to reheat as we don't have a microwave so I wouldn't be happy with just a toaster.

I have a a cuisinart and was going to suggest you get one with the convection feature, no matter which brand you buy. It’s amazing how many people don’t know that an air fryer is basically convection cooking. I do use mine for toasting chopped nuts, convection warming of some small leftovers, and of course, toasting. I don’t bake anything from scratch in it, but I do like the oven vs single use toaster.

I have the Oster and it holds a 9 x 13 dish or pan. Love it. Under a hundred dollars for it. Makes nice toast too. I bake all kinds of things in it.

I have a toaster oven but haven't used it since moving here. It is in the barn now. When I make toast, I just use a cast iron skillet. It toasts bread fine without adding butter, but sometimes I do add butter.

I am so jealous! I would love a toaster over, but have no room for one (unless I could get DH to give up his Keurig). Had one years ago and used it so much. Really miss having one.

I have a love/hate with this subject. Had a Black & Decker toaster oven for years and loved it for toasting bread and English muffins evenly, every time, Until DH accidentally killed it. I bought a replacement, exactly the same and loved it as well. I think I wore it out, and when we moved and have a larger kitchen, I bougot a combo toaster/convection oven. That was the hate period. It took forever to toast anything. Got rid of that. Finally bought a 2 slice Ciusinart pop up toaster that has a mind of its own and will be going to toaster heaven soon. And, needing a 4 slice toaster, bought another B/D toaster oven just like the previous two. Almost. To toast, the light/darker has to be reset for each use by a timer with illustrations. Good Grief! I do like it tho, for baking small things like egg rolls, frozen fish, etc., which is its only saving grace!

I'm hoping to use mine more as my oven occasionally deicides not to work. It's just me and I forget to use it for things like egg rolls, small dinners, etc.

I guess I just had bad luck with Black & Decker. I've had three good toaster-ovens in 50+ years of marriage. This Krups came with me to this house in 2001. I remember three B&D failures: Toaster-Oven, Can Opener, Coffee Grinder. All kaput in less than a year.

It's not that I don't like 'cheap'! I have a $12 toaster/broiler/oven from K-Mart at the Maui condo. I don't leave it out for guests though, because I don't want anyone actually using the Broil function. (Usually creates a mess...and with my luck, a kitchen fire!)

If anyone could give the model number for their toaster oven that they have and like that would be helpful. I've been looking at Breville and Cuisinart but there are several different models for these brands.

Neither. I toast everything under the broiler or in a pan. I don't like excess appliances taking up counter space. Toaster ovens, especially, always look to me like bug buffets.

If I correctly understand jupidupi's sentiment, I agree with her. I dislike clutter and I prefer kitchen counters to be clear of unnecessary items. I'm not sure what the need is for an appliance that's a perhaps often a too small oven and a broiler when most kitchens already have such equipment.

I use my convection toaster oven frequently for all sorts of toasting, warming and baking. I made biscuits in it this morning. It is so much faster, and more efficient energy-wise, than the stove's oven for those small jobs. I wouldn't even care if the stove didn't have an oven, if it weren't for the very occasional larger roasting or baking jobs.

I would love to have one simply to make a type of cinnamon toast where you put lots of brown sugar on toast then broil it until it caramelize with the butter. While I could make it in the regular oven it would be a waste of energy. Only reason I have not is because all of the ones I have looked at call for a dedicated plugin. Only space for it is below the microwave which also needs a dedicated plug. Standing on my head to disconnect then reconnect is not worth the effort.

I would like to have a toaster oven. I got rid of my microwave because it was big and rarely used.

Amylou, I am going to look at the Dash toaster oven. I have a Dash air fryer and a Dash hot air popcorn popper that I really like. I'm hoping it's smaller than the conventional toaster ovens. I have a toaster but would like to be able to warm small things up without having to use my regular oven. Thanks for the suggestion.

I just got a toaster oven from Costco that’s on sale right now, 159.00 after 40.00 off. It’s a Cuisinart that does everything except kill the cow or chicken for you. Roast, convection bake, air fry, dehydrate, pizza and bread. I wasn’t planning on something quite this big, but so far that’s the only downfall.

Elmer, I wish I didn’t mind it on my counter. I’d love one for all the jobs too small for the big oven. I feel guilty using it for our two baked potatoes, but taste is better than in the mic. Plus, our Viking is slow to preheat. I’d actually like both a toaster for the convenient pop-ins AND a toaster oven, but ain’t gonna happen. Now, if I could just add on a butlers pantry...!

A microwave is just counter clutter since I have other equipment to do the job a microwave does. That includes a toaster oven that makes toast, bakes, broils, and warms.

murraysmom, it holds one slice of bread at a time, if that helps with the size. I have the mini. They do make a 2 slice one, but i dont know anything about that. Again, as with all things, i recommend the pink one.

Toaster ovens are great for heating that one slice of pizza, toasting that single hot dog or burger bun, a buttered English muffin or making a single portion of just about anything that can be baked or toasted or doesn't need to be broiled precisely like a hot dog, polish sausage or hot link. I do like a regular toaster better for toasting bread slices. I am not running the big oven to make three crispy spring rolls.

I have a Breville. I actually do most of my oven cooking in it. It takes less electricity than my range and doesn't heat up the house in the summer (no air conditioning). I have a big kitchen with a lot of counter space. I even bake pies in it. Its really a countertop oven not a toaster oven. I have a 2 slice toaster for toast

Yes we do. It's built in to the cabinets on a shelf (not over the stovetop and not on the counter). We don't use it that much. We've never used it to heat water, to cook food, or to make popcorn. We have little frozen meat, mostly purchased seafood only, and what he have is defrosted in the fridge as you describe you do.

When I’m using an appliance fairly often or it’s too heavy to lug back and forth, I keep it out. Otherwise, I have the pantry to store them in. I hate clutter but I also don’t consider keeping appliances I use often out to be clutter. It’s more important to me, that I can cook efficiently and have the tools I need to do so close by. IMO, whether it’s a microwave or a toster oven, if used on a regular basis, neither is clutter.

This is the one I purchased. Toasting fine and bake and convection bake. Made a ham steak dinner with a corn casserole on last night.

Barbara have you had any problems with the lettering on the buttons wearing off? There's a Cuisinart toaster oven I am looking at and a few reviews mention the lettering wearing off the buttons.

This is my first Cuisinart toaster oven. It replaced an old Black & Decker one my parents had, so I can't comment on the lettering wearing off. Only time will tell. BTW - My waffles with Nutella were great just now!

I have had a cuisinart convection toaster oven with knobs for 5-6 years - I use it regularly and like it fine. Before this one I had one I really liked from Walmart. It was a Fagor rotisserie toaster oven - the knob broke after less than a year. It was unusable and infuriating to get fixed.
