replace MW & toaster oven with advantium or speed oven?
Comments (25)Thanks, pillog. The dimensions and storage suggestions are extremely helpful. As for the 27" vs. 30", I'd love to have a 30" but the problem is how to fit one in. I'm working around various obstacles (e.g., a chimney) and fixed features (e.g., unmovable doors and some unmovable walls) that limit what we can do with the space. On the other hand, I hadn't thought about what would happen if the 27" ovens die and replacements can't be found. The current ovens are decades old and still work fine, but I guess that's not likely to repeat itself, given the life expectancy of current appliances. It may be time to look at those plans again and see if there's a way to steal 3 inches......See Morespeed oven as toaster oven?
Comments (2)Another Advantium owner here. So I don't know the specifics of the Electrolux. I agree with what sophie123 said. It has more than replaced our toaster oven, and microwave. I haven't tried it, but I think the Advantium could bake with just the upper halogen, and lower ceramic elements, without using convection, but I don't think I'd bother setting it up that way. I baked some quick Jiffy muffins last night in a silicone muffin pan, on the metal speedcook tray, using straight convection bake after preheating. 11 Minutes. They come out pretty even, probably helped by both the convecton circulation, and the rotating speedcook tray. PS, I also pull out my cheap toaster when I just want to make some toast for breakfast....See MoreBosch speed ovens - clueless or not a speed oven
Comments (4)Hi Robert, yes, a little. I had a technician come out. it's fine, it's just not a full speed oven. So, you have to work a few things out by trial and error. For example, I do a baked potato on a beef setting now and it works just fine. he explained to me to go by density. so I write it down in a book that I keep near the oven for reference. that part is disappointing for me for sure, but I don't use the speed functions that often to be frank. It looks good, matches the oven, the microwave part of it works really well, and when I need the few things done speed wise, it's a bit trial and error, but we get there!...See MoreFitting steam oven & conv. oven or speed oven in existing space
Comments (0)I own a double TurboChef wall oven that has gone kaput. I loved it while it was working, but now parts will no longer be available, so have to face a replacement. I also have a 48" Bluestar so I do have quite a bit regular oven space. I'd like to make the replacement as painless as possible and I'd like to get a steam oven. I would consider a double oven with steam oven or two single ovens---steam and speed. The cutout is 28.5 wide and 48.875 high, 24" deep. The Thermador double steam/convection is 48 1/8" and I like the style available that isn't so sleek. There is a Bosch that is very close to the height but doesn't get very good reviews. Alternative would be getting two single ovens. What would be involved if I choose to do this? How much space between the two ovens is needed? It seems more complicated. Any similar experience with this type of replacement is most appreciated....See MoreZalco/bring back Sophie!
