Wow! I am catching up here, and have to say how different the lighting/room view/color issue is from the first photo posted to the last one at 16:16 with the Christmas decor. That one, it looks wonderful and warm and looks like it belongs. The first photo the fireplace and even the walls had a more gray cast to them, which I think is why the picture and the reds/burgundy looked a bit like a miss. Amazing what lighting does. I was also going to add that the mirror storklady just posted looks lovely- if you were still thinking mirror- size looks perfect, it's affordable and it does have the black that you were seeking (but its not too heavy looking at least in my opinion). And, you had asked- my fireplace is a very generic brick with a very unattractive mantel that I have ignored for the 20 years I have lived in this house. Finally - I meant to say originally that I LOVE that fan.

Not to be contrary ;-0 but I would center a large piece over the sectional and fill in with a table lamp on the end table, not more wall art. The remaining wall is fine blank. I would have a piece (or something like a diptych or triptych) that at fills in a great portion of the area above the couch.

Thankfully people with asthma know about dusting frequently, HEPA filters, hardwood floors that are cleaned regularly, horrible fake flowers that are shaken out regularly, vacuuming furniture, mattress covers and pillow covers, as well as taking medications as prescribed, not smoking, not being around smokers, and other ways to take good care of themselves! Though I hope people who don’t have asthma clean too!

Honestly I can’t decipher your floorplan as to where you’re putting TV which I assume is focus for the seating arrangement. That amount of walk space is about width of an door, so it could work, but could feel tight for a high- traffic pathway. Also would not leave you any room for end tables, so you need to be thinking, how does your family use the sitting area— do you plan drinks/ snacks/ pizza , does anyone read books that require task lighting ( very quaint I know , and use of phones/ tablets/Kindles etc make such lighting less important). Will you always use the furniture lined up in a row of 4 people, or do you need a conversation grouping where some seating is at right angles or across from each other? It’s fine if not, and if room is mostly a media viewing arrangement, just think about how you may want to use it. Also depends on style of furniture, how deep, how high are backs regarding blocking views.
