Design Dilemma Paint

wall color for pink carpet

Our house has pink carpet in the master, along with a pink/cream vanity top. I need something that won’t... make the pink look awful. It will eventually be replaced but it’s Still in good shape so it won’t be coming out anytime soon. I’m thinking sw perfect griege but am open to suggestions.

You might also consider putting a deeper pink on the walls so the carpet looks lighter and less pink in comparison.

Otherwise, I would use a beige color instead of gray, since the carpet seems to be a warm beige/pink. I think a cool color on the walls will make the carpet look dingy.

You could also try a warm white on the walls to freshen the space, and add in some pops of deep pinks in your bedding and art.

I’m not sure I can get down with too much pink. I’d rather not live in something quite so feminine. It’s bad enough the carpet is pink.

It appears from the top photo, and in the bottom photo (only on the upper part of the walls) that the wall paint has a green undertone. A green undertone will make the pink undertone of the carpet stand out more. [I'm not sure how to correct this though. I think you need to use complimentary color undertones. In the case of pink, it would be light purple or light orange undertones. But I'm not sure. That is actually what I am looking for right now; how to correct pink bathroom tile undertones. I just happen to come across this website.]

I am BBQing chicken right now, :-) just found an old photo from 2010. I think that might be the first year I planted them. One bed has 15 of them (in front of the house) ,I counted today, the other rose bed around one pine tree has pink mixed with light pink (almost white) carpet roses in the front of the circle, then knock Out roses (single red, double pink and Blushing) in the middle. :-) The Knock Out roses and Carpet roses bloom on different times, so I always have some colors in the yard.

It's not so much the color of carpet as the material and cleaning method you use to keep a carpet looking nice. The easiest cleaning for foot traffic and spills I've found is nylon carpet. I have poly in the bedrooms and nylon in the rest of the house. Nylon cleans better hands down. I just use warm water for spot cleaning. For whole carpet cleaning I just use hot water with vinegar. Soap or detergent attracts dirt having to clean carpets sooner than you have to. Carpet cleaning companies like to use cleaner so they get to come back often. Carpets with a multi thread color berber appears to hide more.

We need to choose wall to wall carpet for condo about 1,500 ft. We have an off white mid century couch that has shades of grey and beige, 2 black Rosewood Eames Chairs and 2 white/silver based small mid century round tables and a walnut colored midcentury round dining table with 4 matching chairs that have a royal blue cloth seat. I think a shade of beige /tan might work better (think muted Southwestern tones) with that rug color. You definitely want to draw the viewer's eye up, and away from the pink.
