How long should a chain on a chainsaw last in oak please?
Comments (50)Dirt and fine saw dust mixed with oil will eventually plug up the bar and oil feeder holes. Even if you don't hit dirt, dirt still inbedded in the bark. Caked up debri will also lodge in and around the clutch area and cover. The other BIG mistake is not keeping the slack adjusted out of the chain. Which usually has to be done about every tank full of gas. You must clean you chain and bar regularly, Now for me thats at least every other use. I can't stand a dirty saw. You can look at the chain and if the wood is burnt on to the teeth and you have to take a pocket knife and scrape it off you chain getting little oil. even if I am very careful not letting my chain hit dirt it still needs to be cleaned after a days use. this included removing the bar running a wire or small screwdriver down the bar groove knocking all the stuck junk out. I use carb. cleaner it works great for me. I also hang my chain up and spray it down then scrub it with a nylon or brass brush, now that I got the bar and chain pristine clean, I crank up the air compressor and blow out the clutch, clutch cover, around the cooling fins, and exit slot on the pull rope side. Now I reassemble, adjust the chain tension, and hit the chain teeth about 3 or 4 strokes with a file. Now the saw is clean, sharp, and ready for storage till my next cutting job. IMO the worse thing you can do is put your equipment up dirty, especially if it's not used often. We've all seen them the mower decks with the big grass lumps on top of them, chain saws with the big burnt spots on the bar ect.... Now to answer the question how long the chain will last????? Till you sharpen the teeth off of them or they get sharpen down to a nub and break off. that's how long the will last. some will say this is overkill, but for me I like a well preforming piece of equipment, just makes the job easier IMO....See MoreNew KitchenAid oven - broil element on when baking
Comments (14)Carly, my oven I believe is the latest version. It has the Cobalt blue oven interiors and all glass doors. You know, with each oven I've used through the years.....we've moved a lot; I think they each have their own personality! Like I mentioned a good preheating of 20 to 25 minutes has always worked for me. Also, through the past few years I've replaced all my old dark color bakeware with Nordicware plain aluminum or Wilton plain aluminum bakeware. The exceptions would be specialty pieces. Like Bundt pans, loaf pans & pie plates. According to a friend who is a home economist, she states they give the best & most even & reliable baking results. I have to agree. I've rarely have a baking disappointment. Sometimes, cake mixes can be funny. Although Duncan Hines always gives a great result. Pillsbury works well too. That said, a scratch yellow cake would probably be a good test of your oven. I have to admit to have only making a few frozen pizza's so far and they baked well. Maybe your oven it is just a bit to hot. Also weather can have an impact on the end result. I did notice my new Kitchenaid oven has a reflective plate above the broiler where my previous 5 year old model did not. I don't recall the size of the coils in the old compared to the new. That said, I'm not seeing any great difference. This oven seems to be a few minutes faster than the other. However, not enough to cause any anxiety or recipe headaches. If the noodles are raw, at least an hour, if not raw, just until heated through...about 40 minutes....use an instant read in the center of the dish to check...should be about 180. I cook it covered for the first half of the time then remove the cover. And be sure to let it sit for at least 15 minutes before you cut it....lets the juices even out. Comments (28)We have a 20-year old Spring-Air twin mattress that my daughter still sleeps on. It's great. We have another 15-year old Spring-Air king-size that's still good as new. I bought a Sealy firm-memory foam, and it's still good as new, after 9 years. My mother-in-law also loved her very old Spring-Air mattress. I don't have much luck with Serta. I bought that brand new one time, and returned it to the store after 1-night of sleep ... it was really bumpy. My friend has Serta for a few years and she's NOT happy. I tried a bunch of Serta this weekend at Sam's Club .. NOT impressed. We bought a memory-foam topper at Sam's club for an old mattress in the basement, but we HATE it, too mushy, like sinking in mud. I'm shopping for a FIRM latex or foam topper .... spent hours looking at Amazon reviews but could not find any safe bets. Thanks for any recommendations....See Morewdccruise
