I would do the railings in a medium to dark brown. Do the roof in a charcoal or weathered wood. Paint the house a dark blue with white trim.

Why blue? Wont it look sort of nautical if the trim on the windows is white?

Janelle, If you like green, might I suggest a green house, red roof and white trim? The fence white too. It's a pretty combo and white really helps break up up the green, which can be over-powering...let me see if I can find a pic online...

Catherine USA, I like green house and red roof, but concerned a little about doing the deck white. People will be walking on it and I don't want it to look obviously dirty all the time or scrubbing the entire wraparound deck just to keep it looking white. I thought maybe green house red roof and red deck but then that's a lot of color.

you're keeping the wood siding portion? just freshen it up w/new stain and varnish.

I like the dark trim around the roof fascia, and just do the creamier color around the windows.

So look at this color gray roof. Here are a bunch of greens that go w/it:

bring in the warm wood tones, and a cedar color deck (not that red, and not brown) cedar color. ditto your siding

you could do this combo. I'd do the trim in the gray, or one of the other greens.

You could do the deck in this khaki color:

I also like the blues. this is a great color combo w/a gray roof.

Sorry missed your comment about green. I happen to like these blues. But there are some great greens, too.

Hi Janelle H, I overlooked the deck in your picture, my bad. I get your concerns about the deck.

Red roof, green house, white trim, red deck may work. White railing would help break up the color of the red deck. Here's a thought...since the railing is red already, you could paint that last. Paint the deck red and if you like it, you're good to go and you can just give the railing a fresh coat of red to match the deck red. If it's too much red, you could paint the railing white.

Update.we picked a very dark almost black green color for the house, white trim and white deck rails with a sage green walking part of the deck. roof will eventually be replaced, possibly with copper look metal but I will decide after the exterior paint and deck are done. I will post pictures when it's finished!
