Yes, she keeps making into the kitchen to lay on the rug which is not someplace she usually goes. What do I do if she doesn't make it until morning? I have never had a pet die at home.

Go to the vets tomorrow....see if she will eat Purina Feline Fortiflora. It may just be a temporary thing she is going through. Sprinkle it on her food.

My friends cat was 17 years old. Same symptoms. Hadn't eaten in 8 days....gobbled down her food when Fortiflora was put on it...ate a whole can in one sitting. It may work for your kitty cat...worth a try.

So sorry. Satine, my golden died at home and it was what I was hoping for. We then brought her to the vet to be cremated. She was over 15 and was there for my DDs, kindergarten through college.

So hard to go through this. Just know that your cat had the best life with you.

satine having lost many furkids in my life and expecting to find my 20+ baby in the near future I would suggest if you find your baby on the rug that you get down of the floor if you are able and simply pet until until you have said your goodbyes. I have several in my small graveyard that are wrapped or draped in what they chose for their last minutes. They chose it. Most did not want me to be with them when they died and walked away from where I was trying to make them comfortable. I also did not want to have a reminder of the place that they died.

Do not be surprised if a new cat or dog shows up after your baby is gone or shortly before. Somehow it just happens. Until then be at peace.

Having been through the same thing with so many cats and dogs too, my heart aches for you but your cat will appreciate your last act of loving kindness and being free from suffering.

It's the most loving thing you can do if your pet is in pain. I had 2 put down over the years and it's never easy. I made sure I was with them at the time so they knew my love would go with them. Hugs for you and your fur baby

I am just too sorry. I have been there so many times. I wish you had some warning but a syringe and some broth is always a good things to keep around for the geriatric pet but too late for that. It is a normal part of life-the not eating or drinking but it is hard to see. I feel for you. They do have a instinct to seek out a quiet place. Hopefully you can see your vet tomorrow. It is best I think.

Satine, I am so sorry. We have dogs and have had a vet come here. I have always considered it a blessing that one (the son of one of the others who died one year almost to the day) died when the vet was on her way. I would have had such a hard time if we had to have the vet put him down. We were all with him at the end. I think either way, you are right. It sounds like it is time. Sometimes it arrives so quickly and unexpectedly. I hope it is a peaceful passing for your kitty and I do wish you comfort.

When my Juliette passed in her sleep at 19 we bundled her in her favorite blanket and took her to the vet. They were very kind and we were happy to have her cremains to bury in her favourite shady spot in the garden.

This is always the hardest part of loving our animals. I hope that your kitty will have an easy path to the Rainbow Bridge, Satine, and that you will be comforted knowing that you gave her a wonderful home.
