Do you receive a post card that gives you your polling place and other information? If you do polling places are supposed to honor it. Check your states voter information site to see what other documentation can be used. Not everyone has a drivers license.

When I checked my registration with the SOS I found that the North was not on the state registration but is on the county. I am hoping I have no trouble because the county information feeds to the state so correcting it here would do nothing.

Maifleur, don't remember ever getting a postcard. I do have a passport, which I only now thought about. Will bring it and my government issued work I.D. All have photos so one should work.

My drivers license needed to be renewed last month. I looked at DMV online, just to see if any chance I could do it remotely. I'd checked a few weeks early, feeling like my vision has changed and wondering if I should make an appointment for an eye exam before my license date. There's a good chance I could need my first ever glasses, both close up and distance don't seem my lifelong sharp these days. DH can point out something in the yard or across the street now and I'm reaching for binoculars to clearly see what he's describing ;0) Covid of course complicating everything and I had hoped not to need an in person close up exam. With his optometrist who I don't know, my ophthalmologist is in Seattle and I don't want to be in Seattle even for the day right now.

Shortening that up a bit....I could renew online if not concerned about having a new photo. The one on my license isn't wonderful but rarely does anyone see it. I renewed, paid by CC, received my new license (mine is the enhanced for correct ID) in about a week. Expires in 2026.

I had to renew mine in June. Since I am an international customer, I could not do it online. Made an appointment online, stood there outside in 90 degrees with my mask on my spot until called in by the non masked greeter. This poor person got cussed out by some people showing up without appointment. They did not do the vision test. My picture certainly doesn’t look it’s best, but probably not as bad as for some people after me. As soon as I left there was a big thunderstorm.

kaths, are you getting the enhanced driver's license, otherwise known as the "Real ID"? October 1st. was suppose to be the deadline but that has now been extended until Oct. of 2021. I got mine in 2019.

Before Covid19, no appointments were available in my area. So I drove over there and stood in line 10 hours to get my license. I did not have enough of the right kinds of IDs to get my real ID. Went back with an appointment a few months later and got the ID within 10 minutes.

I had a most pleasant experience. I went online to get an appointment date and time. It was after my license expired but with covid they were extending the time. I showed up at the appropriate time, was able to go right in because I had printed out the forms and filled them out prior to the meeting. They had very few people inside at the same time. I went through the line quickly with no problem in my chair, hubby was allowed to go with me. Everyone had masks and lots of distance between everyone. I spent less than 15 minutes and I was out the door and on my way. Extremely efficient and safe. As each person moved from station to station a person would sanitize the area. I had been dreading it but it was a very pleasant experience. It is very important to go online and schedule an appointment, don't wait! Some people will be able to do it online, I had done it online my previous time so I had to go in person this time.

I had the same experience as raven when I went to register my new car in June. I was in and out with the same precautions and distancing she mentions. I also scheduled the appt. online beforehand.

Glad everything was so well organized and safe at your place, Raven! Nobody in sight cleaning at our place. No wiping the pen or anything between the lady in front of me signing her license and me doing so. I brought my own wipes though.

Re: the pens. When I was there, each space at the counter had a container of pens for you to take and use one. Then you were instructed to place the pen you used into a different container. I assumed they sanitized those. When you left the area, a person came out and wiped it down. This was in June, not sure how it's being done lately.

Mine was in June. It was the electronic pen attached to the screen you sign on. I used my own pen signing the paperwork at the counter. The employee there didn’t have a mask either, but at least they did have some shields. Thankfully we still get some bills/ statements by mail. No idea how I would have gotten my license otherwise. It was a struggle as is since the power bill is addressed in my husband’s name. Sorry, didn’t mean to distract.

Supposedly when I went to renew my drivers license required were two documents showing I lived at this address. A current utility statement was one of the stated requirements. I went to one of the utilities websites and simply downloaded and printed a color copy. Then I was ticked because all they wanted was the card that was sent to me saying it was time to renew. Luckily mine renewed in January well before much was known.

We get to renew every other time by mail, it was the same way in the prior state. Only difference this time is that everyone will have to go in person to get the RealID version. Otherwise you'll have to bring your passport when you fly domestically.

So looked up some info on the real I.D.,, which I had forgotten about completely. It's available in Frankfort and they have limited walk ins. I'm going to call them tomorrow and ask if there are limits to walk ins. When I walked in here they asked me when my license expired and when I told them that's when they told me to call and make an appointment. They may have done it if it was way overdue? Kathy, when I renewed for the RealID there was a step by step process on their website to chose what documentation was required and then a listing to print to take with me. Just handing the lady at the counter the packet and made it much easier. Fun thing, they all thought my marriage license was pretty.

I called them this morning and was put on hold forever. I think I may just make an appointment on line. Watching the governor's covid 19 update this afternoon, a reporter asked him if he was aware of covid 19 cases in that department! Apparently they have no plexiglass and aren't being told when coworkers are positive. Not surprised at all.

Morz8, I renewed through the mail because I WANTED to use my old photo. It's one of those rare photos that I like the way I look. Who cares if it's a couple of decades old? It's like the Dear Abby photo of driver's licenses.

Do you admit your real weight when they ask you? I try to, but end up saying something like, "Yes, I think it's about the same". Often the clerk will just smile and put down the same weight. lol

Yes, I give my correct statistics. Why would you lie about your weight?

New York doesn't put weight on licenses. II just double-checked to confirm I remembered correctly. I have an enhanced license and no weight listed anywhere. Thank God. Ha.
