Well, now I am really worried! I better get to studying. After I posted that over here, I went to find the handbook to email the boy (what a day and age we live in that it's so handy and can be read on a computer, a tablet, his phone, AMAZING!!!), and it was meant to be read from page 37-90ish. Ugh. I dread re-reading it. Maybe I'll see if there is a practice test online. We were just talking about driving yesterday. I realized, I haven't even been pulled over since 2008 and then, it was a warning (40ish in a 30mph zone at 10PM and an empty street. Was headed back to Nashville from school 25 miles awawy), because I had nothing on my record. I think I do ok, but written? :/

After DS was born I only worked 4 days/wk, so had Fridays with him (and to run errands). He was in daycare onsite with DH so DH had all the "carpool" duties but DS's schedule was his schedule. After DD it went all to heck b/c she was always sick, crying, not eating at daycare so I took *lots* of time off, finally pulled her out, DH, my mom and I took turns watching her til I finally quit my job. Then started driving around just to get her to nap. And it hasn't stopped 5 yrs later! Sometimes I feel like the kids and I try to live our lives *between* car rides. DH just goes to work 4 days/wk (telecommutes 1 day), and other than Scouts on Tuesday nights, just stays home once he gets home. When I was working (and earning more than he was) and we only had 1 kid, we split the housework. Since I quit to be a SAHM, housework is my job. Except for occasions like when he decided to vacuum the FR while DD and I were at dance class on Saturday, and he ran the vacuum cleaner under the edge of the sofa bed or something and scratched it all up! He's ruined every vacuum I've ever owned, but since we don't have electric baseboard in this house (and he doesn't ever clean), I didn't think he'd scuff this one up. At least it's not all cut up like the old one was (he ruined that one for good when he used the carpet cleaning head to suck up water in the basement. The motor was OK - meant to be a wet vac - but the concrete ruined the plastic nozzle).

I totally agree with MacT and its why I've been refusing to let anyone scan my DL which you are allowed to do! Just insist! Read this which I posted somewhere else just to help out: "Hi, I just found your post because I just got home from Target and figured for once I'd google and see if anyone else had this problem. I'm posting this just to tell you a few things you can do. I periodically jump into target to do my shopping because its right next to my house. On the occasion I do that and grab a bottle of wine they always ask for my license, The first time over a year ago, she took it and swiped, I asked her right away, why cant you just look at it and see I'm WAY old enough?? She couldnt answer. Well as an experiment I went back the next week and did the same thing, only this time when she asked for my license, I said you can look at it but you may not swipe it. She said I have to, I said NO you dont. All you need to do is verify my age, and in over 20 years that used to be done with your eyes,m NOT a computer scanner. She called over the manager, and to my surprise, the manager keyed something in, and she politely gave me back my license. THere was some sort of note the pc generated on my receipt. Apparently you CAN refuse to let them scan, just insist. You need not put your items back on the shelf. I just did it again today, and of course there are people behind who sigh, because I am stubborn about not letting htem HARVEST my information off scanning my id. But I assured them, one day you'll thank me:) SO, let them check your id, and dont let them scan it. Make them call someone over. This happens alot more than you think, thats why they have a special code they punch in. Its an infringement of privacy and not necessary. Have a great weekend! Niki"

"All those posters, who are complaining about older drivers, are you willing to volunteer to drive a senior, to the grocery store, or their doctors' visits?" Cold as it sounds, it is not the responsibility of people who are complaining about unsafe drivers to drive the people they're complaining about, around. It would be nice, and it would be charitable, but it is not their responsibility, nor are they obligated to accept having unsafe drivers on the roads if they don't want to drive others around. However, there does need to be some problem solving going on so that these older people can get to appointments and get errands done. But it is NOT acceptable for an unsafe driver to be on the road because they need to go somewhere. My daughter had to face that reality when her license was taken away due to a diagnosis of epilepsy, and the same goes for any other unsafe driver, including older ones. From my observations, police are quicker to ticket young drivers who are speeding slightly, than they are to ticket older drivers who's driving habits are unsafe. Many older drivers here drive slowly enough to obstruct traffic and pull out right in front of oncoming cars only to drive below the speed limit. They are never ticketed until they cause an accident. The younger drivers are quicker to be ticketed. Actually, a few years ago a senior citizen put her car in reverse and bashed into my car at an intersection, and then she yelled at me for not getting out of her way! She also refused to give me her license info, and a police officer had to get "verbal" with her to get her to provide it.
