thats unfortunate yet normal, there are Custom glass designs and then there are "install a kit" glass jobs for 1/2 price. many times nobody will tell you that upfront 🤧

So many small details that go into A high end design that get missed in the frey.....

We've installed a few of these bypass doors, You should not have 2" spacing on custom doors. Call them back!

Did you purchase and get install from the same place? Do they have a showroom with a door like this on display?

Take a picture of the hardware from the side profile like you did for the gap. That will tell the story if they are installed correctly or not.

The amount of overlap those have, plus the gap, does not say custom. It says the contractor purchased a generic kit. Custom would have been templated and installed by a glass company only. Not by the contractor.

I have never seen that large of a gap. for custom? no. I'd say it's not normal.

Oops just realized these were different than the ones I have, nevermind. Mine have a single black rubber piece on the middle curb that both panes slide into. You seem to have one rubber piece for each pane. Im not sure if those can be movedcloser together because the pane distance is also fixed on the top rail mecnanism.

The gap is between the doors...NO?

Did they put bottom guides to far apart? This is what it seems they did.

How did you choose it? Did they have a display in their showroom?

My guess is that the barn door hardware requires the gap you have. As millworkman advised, take a picture of the hardware between the doors and share that.

If there is the same reveal between the doors at the track and bellow would indicate that this is how it should be...If the reveal between the doors is wider at the bottom and narrows as it goes up... that would indicate the bottom guides are spread to much. Can't tell much from these pictures.

The GC on the job calls the glass company back out. If this was a true custom, done by a licensed GC.

A picture posted of the existing condition might save the GC and/or glass company an unnecessary call back. And we can do that from the comfort of our.....

Thanks all. I purchased from a glass company that the contractor recommended and the glass company installed. I showed them a picture of the style I wanted but didn't see them in person beforehand. I just posted some more pictures in my original post. I haven't paid in full yet. Any additional input would be much appreciated.

call the company back out and see if anything can be done.

If it's because of the track above, maybe switching to something else would solve it.

you're asking us for advice, but that would be to have the company come back in and address your concerns.

Thanks for posting the picture of the hardware it completes, well, the picture. The hardware is what dictates the spacing between the two glass panels. You apparently didn't know what you were purchasing at the time of purchase. That's not a basis for withholding payment.

after seeing that hardware, yes, it would explain the gap.

what's going on here? this shouldn't be raised like that:

those tracks and plastic will get gross and gunky within 6 months. (if this is used daily. ) I have a frameless and those plastic barriers are a pain to keep clean. within a year or so they harden and yellow.

You have all the soft marble tile work, and those big bulky door sliders. the two don't work together. yours fits more of more masculine, industrial type of shower. (which you don't have)

honestly, I'd have them rework it and give you a less obtrusive top rail.

The doors appear to be installed the way it was designed.
