1) They are clear plastic shims of varying thicknesses so that you can shim the glass door.

2) They go inside the clips under the glass. The glass edge should NOT touch metal. Be very very very careful about this. We did and our door exploded in my hands!

3) This is your call. The unprotected edge will be fine as long you you dont bang it with anything hard. Is the shower large enough that water will not be hitting that edge directly so that it doesnt not go outside the shower?

Take your time installing it. Use plenty of towels to protect the glass edge while you are handling it.

We had a neo-angle installed by a pro and he included the seal. While it is visible, I don't think it detracts from the look and without it there would either be a space or glass would be striking glass. I wouldn't want to be without it. We have the shower head on an handle with hose and rinse soap off the glass with it. Without the seal we would flood the floor.

On a second shower (small rectangular in a corner) we also may want to install our own enclosure. Can you tell us where you purchased from and are you generally satisfied?

We got the fixed panel installed today, and it looks great. Man it was stressful though!!! I think I drove poor DH crazy with having to stop every few minutes to carefully think through the next step, and arrange wood/towels/bubblewrap on every hard surface in sight! But its in, plumb and square and looks great.

UNFORTUNATELY........ the fabricator seems to have sent the wrong hinges for the door. They seem to be the self-closing 90-degree type, and we needed the adjustable ones for the angled door. Of course they are closed until Tuesday, argh!! (This after they also forgot the setting blocks -which I luckily was able to find at a glass store that was open on Saturdays- so I am not sure I will recommend them. We'll see how they handle the hinge thing. Maybe we are just not seeing how they'd adjust, but I dont think so...)
Anyway, I should have been showering in my new shower tonight, but looks like I will have to wait another week!

On the plus side- we did not upgrade to Starfire glass (it wasn't offered and I did not think to ask) and after reading about it on GW here, I was worried about the green glass color, but it turns out it looks really, really great with the other palette in the room :)

Tomorrow: vanity install!

lennym: let me see how this company handles the hinge issue and then I'll post about them. They were the cheapest online vendor I found; maybe in this case you get what you pay for? They've been responsive and helpful thus far, though, and I know they are in the process of moving their showroom this weekend, so it may be a one-time honest mistake...

What hinges did you get? Hinges have set screws that allow you to close them to any angle. Do you have the name of the hinges?

The manufacturer did not list the hinge p/n on our invoice, but they did give me a link to the hardware manufacturer.

Well the glass manufacturer called today (on a Sunday, nice woman!) and confirmed that they sent the wrong hinges. They're shipping the right ones on Tuesday, so we'll have to wait until next weekend for a shower door. But we got the vamity in today! Yay! Pictures tomorrow...

We bought from Gasparilla Glass, who sells on ebay under the name showerdoorhardware. I shopped around for the best price. They were pretty helpful. Their instructions are not as complete as other sellers, though, and they are not as totally geared towards DIY-ers as some.

They did send the wrong hinges, which held up our install, and that was a bummer. But- they also answered my email about it on a Sunday and made it right for us. All in all I would give them a B or a B+.

If you're considering DIY-ing the install.... it's not easy. Well, actually I think if we'd had a straight install, in-line panel and door or even a 90 degree angle, it would have been moderately difficult. Drilling the holes in the glass tile was very difficult. Handling the glass, after the myriad warnings of it shattering from slight bumps, was VERY nerve-wracking. My advice if you're considering a neo-angle installation: get the pros to do it. The geometry is just too difficult. Ours isn't perfect, consequently.
