Is this light fixture right for my hallway?
Comments (7)Thanks, Johnatemp! Perhaps I should mention, there are two pendant lights on the second floor. One can not be seen in the photo. It is to the right of the one you can see. The window in the pic is 6'3" high x 4'3" wide. The one you can't see is about a foot shorter & the same width. So, totally there are 3 flushmounts, 1 down, & two upstairs, & 2 pendant lights in this hall. These all need to coordinate & be the appropriate size. Thanks!...See MoreHallway (2nd floor) lighting: recessed lighting or flush mount?

Comments (9)Hi lots2sew, It's not a bad idea at all to put some pendant light fixtures, if you wanted to add some pizzazz and glam to the ceiling space so it's not so dull looking. We're just speaking from the perspective of practicality, as we are a custom lighting design manufacturer. Comments (2)I think you could put something larger-format and more of a statement at the top of the stairs and do something more lower profile down the hall. As long as they have the same "feeling," it's okay for them to be different sizes and shapes. This may also help disguise that they're offset, which you as the homeowner will be more conscious of than anyone else who enters your home. For example, if you wanted to add a crystal chandelier at the top of the stairs, add a flush-mount version down the hall. Many fixtures these days come in both flush mount and semi-flush formats, too, so you might be able to match the same design that way....See MoreLight Vision Concepts, LLC.
