Is this light fixture right for my hallway?

Or could I do better? I shopped & shopped for something tradtional looking in a warm metal. Didn't want polished, shiny brass or anything silvery. This is called "Flemish Brass." It looks a little dark, maybe a little cheap? Is this fixture too big?

I have two more in unopened boxes intended for the upstairs hallway. All three of these are replacing $6.95 builder's specials from 21 yrs. ago! It's so hard to believe that in 18.5 yrs. no other PO felt motivated to get rid of them!

Other question--have pendant lights in second story of foyer. I think these look way too small if I'm keeping this fixture. Here is the "companion" pendant fixture. It is 14.5" wide & 25" long. The current one is about 6" wide & 8.5" long.

Stinky I like them and I don't think they are too big. You have high ceiling's and you need a big light fixture.
The other light fixture I really like. I have been looking for a antique light fixture just like that one.
Light fixtures are hard to find and I think they look good.

How do they look after dark, when they're lit?

For the second one, I would be concerned about dust. Dust would collect on the inside and how would you clean it? And for me, I know all the bugs in the house would go in there to die... Not that I have a lot of bugs, but there's always that stray moth, lol....

First, I really have to thank you two for chipping in with advice. This is a very good example of why I love this forum. There are very many Good Samaritans out there and with advice sharing we all benefit. I ended up getting a Philips 60w replacement, meaning that it's a 9.5w LED. It gives off 800 lumens. If you want to improve lighting maybe you can get the ok from landlord to replace the light yourself, or you pay someone to do it, a handyman. You would have to leave it if you move out and not expect landlord to reimburse you for it. Are those beams running through the whole house as part of the structure because if not get rid of them they make no sense there then your lighting issue will be solved you can do a great fixture right now pot lights and forget it

Thanks for the feedback. We don’t have the budget to work with a lighting designer and we aren’t in the US, but I appreciate the offer! RL - thank you for the mock ups. I like the drum ones and I think I’ve seen something similar at Home Depot. I really wanted a black foyer light but the one I like has been discontinued and it’s only available now in the satin. Everything else I see is either too trendy or too ornate. I’ll keep looking. I can also go darker on the paint colour to get it to pop a little better. It’s a big space with a good amount of natural light so I think it could handle saturated wall colour.

I do love the fixtures and the finish but I too would think about the glass and dust and bugs getting in and NOT getting out! That's just me. I'm lazy! They are lovely!

It's nice to hear that at least from an aesthetic standpoint, y'all like them, because as ND said, good light fixtures ARE hard to find!

I think it looks very nice. Classic.

Agree the pendant should be much larger & the focal point. Think about how it looks at nite lit up thru the window.

Perhaps I should mention, there are two pendant lights on the second floor. One can not be seen in the photo. It is to the right of the one you can see. The window in the pic is 6'3" high x 4'3" wide. The one you can't see is about a foot shorter & the same width.
So, totally there are 3 flushmounts, 1 down, & two upstairs, & 2 pendant lights in this hall. These all need to coordinate & be the appropriate size. Thanks!
