The nice thing about purchasing a sofa and two lounge chairs is they offer you and your husband options for the room. There are multiple arrangements possible. No loveseat. The two lounge chairs could also be recliners.

Oh, you guys are so sweet! I just loved how open and airy everything felt before the beams went back in and I'm worried about making it feel too heavy and cave-like. I hummed and hawed about whether or not to put them back and finally the designer decided for me. They've also put in all the trim and doors on the second floor and I think I need to paint out the wood pronto, before I lose my nerve. It was all well and good to talk about it when the 100 year old fir wasn't staring me in the face, but it's going to be a lot harder now that it's in. Part of me wants it all taken out completely and just have drywall returns everywhere.

Our new house has a lovely open-beam ceiling and a great view from the living room (see pics), but very little lighting and the room lacks sufficient light at night. I want to put some kind of carefully installed plug-in lighting (hardwiring that ceiling will be difficult as you can see) that blends in well to the look of the room and doesn't detract too much from the ceiling. Any suggestions? I think my options are to install a plug-in track type lighting system on the two white beams, or to hang two (or more) pendants - again with the cords carefully hidden and nicely installed. The light above the dining table is a swag but doesn't give off enough light, so we'd likely replace that. I could get wall sconces installed but am trying to avoid the expense of an electrician. Thanks for your suggestions!

That's pathetic. They made no effort to integrate that into the house; they just slapped it up as though it were a warehouse. The uprights could have been buried in the walls; you'd still have the cross piece, but it would be less of an eyesore. The perspective is skewed by the wide angle, so I can't tell if that space is used as a single room or two different areas. That would affect the way it could be disguised.
