Jinx, I always say I’m going to wait until October, but as soon as the first cool day comes along, I can’t resist. Especially now with being home so much more because of COVID, my decorating motivation is is overdrive. Michaels already has Christmas garland out!

Surprised to see no one else posting more fall decor yet? I know I'm a week early (official start of fall is 9/22) but where are all the gorgeous tablescapes and mantels? This site has been a source of some seriously swoonworthy fall vignettes in the past. Have we all lost steam due to COVID or has the site just lost some of our top posters? I confess I have not been on since March or so....

I like what you've done, Rebecca! Looks like you're definitely getting into the autumn spirit.

It's still very much summer where I am, and while I'm looking forward to cooler temperatures in the next month or two, I'm still focused on outdoor activities. My veggie garden is still growing, and I'm planning to having a small crop of ginormous sunflowers in the next few weeks! That will definitely have a late summer/early fall feel, I think.

I tend not to decorate seasonally inside my home. My adult cats are still very much kittenish when it comes to anything new on display, and usually dismantle things for me in no time flat -- so it's just become a futile endeavor for me. I was dismayed to see Christmas displays going up in the same area where Halloween is in full swing at Lowe's recently. It's too early to even THINK about the year-end holidays.

I don't know if it's Covid-related, but I do think that a good number of us have sort of gotten used to simply taking things one day at a time in 2020, and not focus too much on the future. Being more "in the moment" has become my new normal; or, at least I find I'm not looking forward as much as I did even last year, because things could change so quickly. I do understand that seasonal decorating helps ground some, however, and certainly get why it appeals to so many.

IdaClaire, I totally get it! My gardens are still in bloom as well but leaves on some of the trees are starting to turn. I agree, this year especially it's a great idea to squeeze as much out of the outdoors as we can!

Sadly I anticipate a long winter ahead. I saw the Halloween stuff out at Lowe's already also. I have a friend that is a buyer for TJX (Marshall, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, etc.) and she says they can't keep inventory on the shelves! It's flying out of the stores because people are redecorating now more than ever. I mostly "shopped the house" for my fall decor, and I like to use as much real as possible (ie., all my mini pumpkins, and the sunflowers are real - and the filler in the middle of the arrangement are actually weeds from my yard, lol.)
