DCS vs Capital vs Monogram vs Wolf
Comments (8)I decided on an open burner Wolf and for cleaning sake, think I should have gotten BlueStar...But of the ones you're looking at, I also considered Capital Precision, which has major BTUs for sealed burners and all burners with the same power, which I consider a big plus. I love the look of the Monogram and the really nice feature on it is the grates...Not only do they come off singly, but turn over to be wok grates. Single grates are heavy...I think dbl grates would be difficult due to weight and awkwardness. I think Monogram has more powerful burners than they did when I was looking, and all the same power, if I remember right. Just checked...18K BTU burners...Almost as much as Capital and more than Wolf. I thought DCS made Monogram, but their website says their burners still have different power and less than the Monogram. It also doesn't have the same grates. Wolf has their great customer service to back them up and all burners of the same power. Dbl grates, though....See Morewolf range vs...bluestar?
Comments (4)If your possible resale is 5 years or more away, get the range you like better. You have to live with it in the meantime and Bluestar is terrific for stir-frying. I'm in Bawlamer too and when people see the Bluestars they are impressed with their rugged commercial looks even if they don't recognize the nameplate....See MoreWolf or Dacor Range? HEELLLP!
Comments (57)I don’t have the Modernist but have the Heritage Pro dual fuel. I’ve had a 30” range and have used it for 20 years with NO PROBLEMS. I love it. Am now remodeling my kitchen and am replacing it with the same range but in a 36” style. I liked the modernist style but have been so happy with the Heritage, that I didn’t feel it was worth with the extra $$ to go to the Midernist - and didn’t need/want all the computerized features. The latter, in my opinion, are just addl things to break, maintain and need updates. When looking for a range like this, the “biggies” IMO are 1) BTU range to go from simmer to high BTU output. 2) usable space in the cavity of the oven (note that Dacor ovens are typically larger than Wolf or Thermador). 3) continuous grates - which make a huge difference for cooking, moving pans around the surface of the range, and - frankly - safety (no tipping pots). Cleaning ease is also something to pay attention to. I’ve liked the Dacor for this as well and regularly use the Clean cycle. Hope this helps....See MoreWolf vs. Viking Range: Head-to-head comparison?
Comments (13)madeline, I think Viking and Wolf are both good products. Most of my friends and aquaintenances have either or. Most seem to like them well enough. I have Viking AG with open burners for over 10 years without much problems. I had to have the oven ignioers replaced a few years ago. My DH did it for the price of ignitors which was about $50.00 each. I am not even sure if the newer gas ovens even have ignitors. I really like having an infrared gas broiler in the oven. I have never used an electrical oven with broilers that were as powerful. But others can correct me, if I am wrong. I also have a Miele Speed oven as a second oven. My Viking AG oven is not quite as even as the Miele speed oven. There are hot spots. On the other hand, the Miele oven does not have an option where the convection fan is NOT on. It maybe the fan that makes the oven more even. I also have a built in BBQ with infrared rotisserie which is right outside of my kitchen. I think you need to evaluate your total cooking package. For me, it was important to have adequate of everything I needed: broiler (gas infrared rather than electric broiler), good even oven (Miele speed oven) and an easy access to a grill....See Morejoanhp
