Broiler vs Grill on 36 ranges (Wolf, Monogram)
Comments (4)Thanks for the feedback. I would really like to hear from somebody that has the Wolf grill how the veggie/hamburger grilling is. Another thing that irks me with the Wolf is the fact that the grill cover is not at the same height with the burner grates on each side. The monogram has it where the grill and the burner grates are all even so you have a 36 inch wide continuous surface. I really like Wolf, but more I think about it, their AG just does not appeal me. Plus they will be re-designing the model. Capital does not have a dual fuel right? For under $6000 with a discount, to me the Monogram seems like a great deal as a dual fuel professional stove. Not much raving about it, but also not much complaints either....See MoreCooktop help: wolf vs dcs vs bertazzoni
Comments (1)The burners on the DCS cooktop are like the burners on the DCS range and they're great. I've had a DCS range for over 5 years and love the burners - the simmer is especially good. I think you'll be happy with the DCS....See More36' Cooktop advice: Wolf vs Monogram vs Bertazzoni
Comments (9)I have the 36" Bertazzoni cooktop. I'm very happy with it. I've never used 6 at a time, but have used 5. I originally planned to get a Dacor 5 burner, but found the Bertazzoni was about $500 cheaper. I have that huge Le Creuset dutch oven right now on the simmer burner. It does take up a lot of room, but I can use the burners around it with smaller pans - I couldn't use my seriously huge Le Creuset frying pan next to it, for example. I tend to move pots around from burner to burner: do the initial cooking on the front, then move a pot to the back to finish, while I work on the next thing, for example, and for that I really love the continuous grids. I have had no trouble stir-frying on the left hand burner, but I'm only cooking small quantities (if I cook a Chinese meal, I make lots of small dishes to share, not one huge one). I got a second simmer ring to use on the inner ring of the double burner, because I make a lot of sauces and often use both simmer burners. (I emailed Bertazzoni in Italy to ask about it and they sent it to me for free, which was great customer support!) I'm running it on propane and am very happy with the results. It's incredibly easy to clean - really, just a 'light duty' white scrubby sponge, water, and polish it off with a microfibre cloth. I like the knobs at the side, because I was concerned about pans of boiling water catching on them and scalding me. Over-reaction perhaps, but I'm pretty safety-minded. I know some people prefer all 6 rings to be equal in power, but it hasn't been an issue for me - in reality, most cooking is done at lower temperatures anyway, unless you fry a lot. That's about all I can think of right now, but if you have further questions post again and I'll try and address them. I really think, dollar for dollar, the Bertazzoni is a very good price with great performance. We cook everything from scratch, every day, so it's been well used. 2 years old now....See More36 Gas Range: DCS vs Kitchenaid vs Wolf
Comments (5)Have you looked at Capital? The engineers behind the highly rated DCS of yesteryear left DCS and started Capital. I do believe DCS is now owned by Fisher Paykel. Have you read the reviews on the Appliance forum? I love my Capital 36" range. They have changed the grates (there was an issue with possible tipping pots). Their customer service is great. I called and told them that my oven racks weren't rolling like they did in the showroom, and they sent me a new rack. It glides so smoothly. Plus this range (if you get the self clean) comes with a rotisserie. If you have room for the 36", I think you should go for it. It is so nice having multiple large pots and pans on the range without hanging off the side. Even if you don't use all the burners at once, just the extra room is great. But remember, bigger range, bigger ventilation system needed. You need to add that into your budget. Here is a link that might be useful: Capital's Website...See Morectnewbie2009
