Comments (13)That is stunning. I’ll show her this as so far I’ve been unable to persuade her to have curtains outside the bay. One of the biggest problems is the area at the top of the bay where the rail/ pole goes. The house has previously had a settlement problem and is wonky. This is most evident in this bay. Unfortunately I can’t get a photo that really captures it but at the moment the rail goes along the top of the window frame which mean the gold curtains hang from half way down between the top beam and the picture rail. This looks very odd. In your photo the curtain hangs nicely just below the beam. To do this with my daughter’s would mean the rail, if it goes inside the bay as she wants, would sit half way between the window and the ceiling accentuating the slope where settlement has occurred....See MoreNeed help choosing window dressing on this window wall.
Comments (6)Even if those windows don't face south, if they aren't UV coated, I would apply a film to them to block UV. Otherwise the light will fade your upholstery and rug. I don't think the windows need curtains, but if you need to block light at certain times of the day I would install roman shades or cellular shades. If you get a sheer cellular they still let a lot of light through. They're usually available in various levels of sheerness....See MoreTricky windows need new window treatments
Comments (14)I'm sorry but I can't take the cornice down yet - too hard to take down/put back up. Behind it, there are 4 sets of sheer covered vertical blinds. All will be coming down when we do the project. As far as what we need for window coverings, it is mostly decorative and then for some moderate amount of privacy. Sun is not an issue as the windows face north. I wonder if something like this would work but not sure with the windows and space between them being so narrow. I'm ok with doing only roller shades or roman shades but like the panels to soften things up and makes it a little dressier since this is our living room not family room....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
