Since Our Conversation Side is Slow....
Comments (28)We went with Blockbuster online because at the time it was less expensive than Netflix at the time. Now that they've raised their rates to the same as Netflix I don't mind since I can return movies to the store on the way to work and they get counted as checked in a day or two faster. Also, I get coupons for a couple of "free" store rentals each month. Still, being summer I'm not renting as many. Mostly I'm getting old comedy series, e.g. Kids in the Hall and Strangers With Candy and special interest documentaries like The God Who Wasn't There and Walking with Prehistoric Beasts, cable stuff I don't get like Penn & Teller's BS and of course a lot of mainstream movies. I agree about Walk the Line. Quite good but seemed much like Ray. (We tend to get Academy Award nominees/winners for the few months after the ceremonies) And as for 28 Days Later, that was fun to watch with my epidemiologist. We laughed our butts off. Atrophying biddies. That's funny! What is it about fussy, ugly flowers that draws that crowd?...See MoreJustified so sad to see it end
Comments (22)Doesn't Blu Ray generally have more supplemental content, including online? I haven't done a comparison, but I found a review of the Deadwood blu ray set that says this: HBO’s Blu-ray set includes everything. I can’t wait until they do this with The Wire though that was 4×3, so it makes a little less sense, but still. The show and all the DVD supplements are presented over a thirteen disc set. Almost all of the supplementary material could have been relegated to one disc, but this set represents the HBO way – all class, all luxury. Every episode is presented in picture-perfect widescreen (1.78:1) and in 5.1 DTS-HD surround. The presentation is immaculate. This is how the show should look, and the rich details and dust and swagger are preserved here. There's more about what's included in the Blu Ray further on in the review. http://collider.com/deadwood-the-complete-series-blu-ray-review/ Here's another review which talks about the HD transformation and lists all the extras. I think it says that it has all the extras from the DVD set plus more, but it's too early for me to read it closely. http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/46021/deadwood-the-complete-series/...See MoreBest design tv show
Comments (31)allison0704 Yes, watching the SRD Youtube series. It's fun to revisit prior projects and see how things have changed and how her design choices have changed. I like that she admits that not all her choices have been good ones and explains why she is changing pieces out. Gives us things to think about when we try to make wise design choices for our own projects. I appreciate that aspect. Also agree on Candice Olsen - I really liked her show. HGTV could use a bit of a reboot. Less House Hunter iterations and more design and renovation shows. But really, I don't understand why the property brothers are still a thing. They've had so many shows with varying themes. Can we not find some new talent with some fresh new ideas? Anything with Bryan Bauemler is good too. I've enjoyed Island of Bryan very much. What an undertaking that has been, including their entire family....See MoreFor those who wish to discuss what is happening across the pond.....
Comments (103)Louis reminds me of our child on the autism spectrum. Our child, now grown up, would do things like that under noisy or chaotic conditions. Even in a small setting, if one of the people was loud or boistrous, or there was a lot of loud music or engines, she would cover her ears and or eyes. It can be unraveling to children with sensory issues to be in a situation such as the Jubilee for the Queen. They experience the world much different from those not on the spectrum. I'm sure that under different circumstances, the mom or dad would have taken Louis aside and explained that we don't behave like this in public. It's time to settle down now, then later we can go to a quiet place after we get done with this event we all must attend. I made it a point to explain to our child when she got a little older than Louis is now, that even though this event with it's noises, smells, and tactile stimulation is upsetting, you have to behave properly while in the setting and I expect that of you. I'm sure Kate and William would do the same if the eyes of the world weren't glued to them that day. They had to look royal, even though their kid was being a kid. I'd cut Kate some slack. I've seen worse in the grocery store or dining businesses. Kids can be onery; much of the time due to what they've had to deal with during their day, sometimes without a nap. The domestication process for some young people takes a little bit more time than for others. I tend to think Louis was expressing how he was feeling and hasn't learned yet how to keep that to himself. He is only four. Not all humans can keep their Emily Post manners going all day at age 4. Perhaps he takes after his uncle Harry too. I seem to remember Harry being somewhat, er, um, let's just call it immature around the same age. ;^)...See Morededtired
