Does anyone know how to match the finish of a Kraftmaid cabinet face?

I'm trying to match the color and finish of an existing set of Kraftmaid cabinets. Specifically, I am using their "Cinnamon" wiping stain on raw cherry 1 X 6, which I'm then going to rip and shape as baseboards, facing for a leg, etc. Problem is I can't get the color exactly the same, or the smooth finish. Cabinets have been in place for about 8 years, so have probably darkened a bit, so the wiping stain doesn't really match, at least after 3 coats. Other than mixing various shades of reds and browns, and using fine grit sanding discs to get the wood really smooth, is there any more tried and true way to achieve this? Any professional and / or personal experience would help. Thanks!
